It's Friday and I really should be frocked up,
but I found this tee shirt in a charity shop on the way home from the swimming baths earlier and just had to try it on with the skirt I was already wearing.
but I found this tee shirt in a charity shop on the way home from the swimming baths earlier and just had to try it on with the skirt I was already wearing.
I never wear tee shirts but when I spotted this divine print nestling amongst the racks of unwanted Primark and Papaya my heart skipped a beat. A 1970's original from good old C&A which, bizarrely, is also the make of my maxi skirt. Like most of the vintage clothing I own it's perfectly proportioned for my shape with well-fitting sleeves and a neat neckline.
They don't make 'em like they used to.
My lovely pal, Jennie, suggested I post some of my cheapest outfits. This one comes in at £4.79 which is cheaper (and will last significantly longer) than a round of drinks will set me back in the pub later.
Coincidently we have a 'very' similar outfit today! Except I do not have your fantastic hat!!!! have a wonderful weekend!!!!

You look rather spiffing I must say!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute t-shirt - fits you perfectly as if it had been sewn onto your body plus it matches well with that bag!
I hope you have a great weekend Vix! xxx
Gorge tee - perfect outfit for summer!

There is something so wholesome about a proper vintage t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteLove it. What a fab design. Have a lovely weekend.xxx
ReplyDeleteGot to love a bit of C&A. I remember spending many a saturday in my youth trying on clothes we couldnt afford on our pocket money in C&A.
ReplyDeleteThe tee looks awesome with your maxi skirt.
Scarlett x
C&A rings a bell. What a wonderful seventies look for under a fiver! I love your maxi.
ReplyDeleteVix, You're such a rebel!! Good old C&A... My Mum used to drag me around that place as a child, and Chelsea Girl, now that's a label I've never come accross since. Have a great weekend. Xx
ReplyDeleteFan-tab-u-lous! It's YOU!
ReplyDeleteYes, C&A is a strong memory from my childhood, and that t-shirt is definitely the stuff of my youth (nicked off my older sisters!)
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing, of course, and it's no surprise at all that your outfit comes in at under a fiver - that's the Vix Trick!
PS. Haven't had chance to comment on yesterday's post, but wanted to say the catsuit is ridiculously lovely! Well done with the selling - see, multitalented! She buys, she sells, she makes, she tidies, she's got it all!
Have a superb weekend, you've earned it!
What a glorious print and such a wonderful find. It had your name written all over it xxx
ReplyDeleteI still miss C & A - My hubby sent me a text the other day - I had to buy a suit for my new job - "Try c and a", he typed...
ReplyDeleteHe hadn't realised that they left our shores years ago - You can still find them in Germany, I believe...
I love the greens in that t-shirt and how they pop with your bag - Very sweet, Vix! Bonne weekend! x
Perfect green - and great pattern. I like the bag-tee combo too.
ReplyDeleteI've remembered great stuff from c&a I had circa '74... shame I couldn't have kept, and super-sized, them to wear now ;) x
I love your looks Vix! You have some cool bits! I love long black skirts like this! The t-shirt is funky!
ReplyDeleteHi my dear-C&A at its very vintage best, you look gorgeous!! Have a grand weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteI adore C&A, and this example is one of the reasons why. There seems to be no attention to detail in today's mid-range high street designs.
ReplyDeleteLOL at the Primark/Papaya comment - every charity shop must house the same poor-quality shapeless T-shirts, fleeces and bobbly p.j bottoms. The charity shop Gods must have been busy today, I found a St Michaels dress which fits like a glove, £3 (steep!) but worth it!
Have a fantastic weekend, Lucy x
That print is Fabulous! Breaking the rules is fun especially if you look so Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteA round of drinks is what I always compare (non-makeup)purchases against as well, teehee!
ReplyDeletei used to love Clockhouse at C&A when I was a teenager, love the print and hat
ReplyDeletereally an unbeatable bargainous outfit, my dear! and you look absolutely stunning :)
ReplyDeleteThats a cute t-shirt Vix!
ReplyDeleteDx

ReplyDeleteeeeee good old C&As! I have fond... ok not so fond.... memories of traipsing round C&A with my mam when I was young, some how my purple padded winter coats always came from there :-S
ReplyDeleteLOVE the print on your tshirt! The colours look great on you too.
That t shirt is an amazing find. I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteIn fairness you could get away with this looking like a dress.
ReplyDeleteGood old c&a!
I used to love it. Had many an ietem of clothing from there back in the day. Don't they still exist in other countries?
Have a great weekend Vix.
X x
I LOVE the vintage tee, beautiful colours - great find! x
ReplyDeleteYou are a frocking trend setter babe! I love the print on this shirt!
ReplyDeletegah graja gah gah! haha :-P You look marvelous! So good!
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you come across proper vintage all the time. Love the hat, great colours =)
I am oggling your sun hat amor, that top is cute and so you. now thats vintage love. I dont like to wear t shirts either unless it has a cool design or Morrisey.

That T-shirt is fantatstic !
ReplyDeleteLots of fond memories of C&A here too ..... shopping expeditions with my Mum and sister and coming out with lots of brightly coloured clothes !
If you hadn't said that was a skirt and top i would never have guessed, you look lovely. Have a great weekend, dee xx
ReplyDeleteLooking fabulous as ever! C&A can still be found in Switzerland too btw
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see the sizing in there too, www.retrochick.co.uk has done a thing on vanity sizing and sizing being made clearer, I remember never being a size less than a 14 in the late 70s and early 80s, but now that would equal a more like a 10! mmmm great to see sizing on labels from then, I knew it!
GREat tshirt! LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteoh Halleljah! I can post a reply at last!! Fantastic outfit and I cannot BELIEVE the price!!!
ReplyDeleteAli x
Good old C&A, you're absolutely right, they don't make 'em like they used too. That is a fabulous outfit and a bargain price too xx
ReplyDeleteLoving that T and I think a skirt and top is as good as a frock anyway
ReplyDeleteYay for rule breakers and what a flippin' fantastic oppy find! Bargain-ous! You've reminded me of a similar bagI have hiding away somewhere - you are gorgeous and your hat and bag are splendiferous Vix!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteAs always you are rocking the frock xx
ReplyDeleteI miss C&A. I have very fond memories of shopping in there.
ReplyDeleteIs this the first time we've seen you in a tshirt? I love the ruffle on that fab maxi and I ADORE that perfect tshirt! Hope you are having a DIVINE weekend amor!
ReplyDeleteLove, Sarah xxx
Lovely outfit
ReplyDeleteha ha I don't think those measurements would be a size 10 now. Its true they don't make things how they used to.
Thanks so much for the info on the website in Tenerife I shall have a look at this.
I did reply to your comment on my blog too xx
You look fabulous - as always. Ah, the happy memories of 1970s C&A T-shirts, I remember having quite a lot of them at the time and, if I remember correctly, they cost 99p each!
ReplyDeleteLove the t-shirt, and the skirt, and the hat and...you get the idea - I love everything!x
ReplyDeleteI'm a frocking rule follower.....I think that is my problem! I love how you put things together your way and make it so original.

I love the size tag--why can't they do that now?
ReplyDeleteGorge! Your top is such an awesome print! I think breaking the rules is much funner than obeying them, hehe.
ReplyDeletex Michelle | thefeatherden.net
I'll never tell your secret! That t-shirt looks amazing. I love the print, and it really does look as if it was made for you.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours of the t-shirt, and the little girls on it. Gorgeous! I've gotta get comfortable in a maxi, I'm missing out!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time at the market - I wish i could have been there to rummage through your stuff!
Xoxox Claire
Lovely print tee and it matches the bag like they were made for each other. I'm glad that you broke the rules because this outfit is a great way to start any weekend.
ReplyDeleteLoving that t-shirt print, Vix - its so 70s and totally gorgeous - just like you!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great weekend and have picked up some fab bargains, although its a very wet day down here today for boot-sale-ing!
xxx
Excellent t-shirt! I love vintage C&A, there's some awesome stuff out there. Wish I could have popped over to snaffle things at your car boot stalls, they looked fantastic! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou are looking fabulous as ever Vix. Hope you enjoyed your visit to the pub. I've enjoyed your recent posts on car boot sales.
ReplyDeletexxx
You mustn't dismiss the good old tee, Vix, I practically live in them. Most might not be glamorous enough for you, but these surely do you justice. x
ReplyDeleteTwo more things we are utterly in agreement about:
ReplyDelete1) 70s C&A rocks.
2) Nothing wrong with a bit of rebellion, especially on Friday.
Mind you, I LOVE a t-shirt: the deliberately scruffier/rockier the better. I like to juxtapose them with things that could otherwise be too twee!
Haha I had the exact same tshirt in yellow! (I may still have it, I'll have to have a look!) xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab print. One of my favourite dresses is from C&A, they had some great designs xx
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous find Vix, I'm always so jealous of you! :(
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours with your maxi.....love the bag too!
ReplyDeletethis is such a beautiful look - suits so much!
ReplyDeleteThat print is amazing! GreatI wish I still had a 23 inch waist. You look fabulous as always. Love you xx
ReplyDeletei dont wear skirt but like it.
