Why do I love Seventies' fashion so much?
Is it the vibrant colours, exciting fabrics and groovy patterns?
The outrageous style of the clothes?
The way the clothes always seem to fit my body perfectly?
Because it was the decade of my youth (I started school in 1970)?
Or could it be that nobody else appreciates Seventies' style and it's still as cheap as chips?
Spanish-made patchwork leather bag (50p) and gilt Cleopatra chain belt (20p) from this morning's car boot sale.
Tricel catsuit (99p, eBay) worn with vintage Ted Lapidus sunglasses (£2.95, Acorn Hospice) and Swedish Hasbeens (a gift from the beautiful Sarah Misfit).
Ah the 70's love you Vix!! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours on you, perfect for festivals I feel.
Love the chain belt.
xx
It simply could not be any more Seventies. Why they didn't get you to work on Life On Mars I will never know!
ReplyDeleteSadly I cannot get on-board with this look as I hate catsuits. I have only recently recovered from a severe aversion to orange too! ;o)
Amazing catsuit!!
ReplyDeleteYou know I share your love of the Seventies, but I still wish I could be more like you and wear the more outrageous of my outfits out and about.
I'm so very much with you on the suiting my body thing, something about my shape just works in Seventies, and it really doesn't in Fifties...
I love the seventies cos I can sing to all the songs! And I got my first record player, a Dansette! Mind you, who can get enough of orange!
ReplyDeleteI love Catsuits, you look pretty splendid in yours!

ReplyDeleteYour right, everything fits you perfectly, it all looks like it was made just for you. You are the only person I know that can rock a 70s catsuit like that, its looks incredible! Please tell me you went to the carboot in that catsuit. Just fabulous :o) Scarlett x
ReplyDeleteYou definitely rock the 70s look! It's not a decade I'm usually drawn to, but that said, my bedroom curtains are bright orange 70s numbers, and I just found some amazing 70s fabric in a charity shop that I have yet to blog about. Maybe I can be converted? Not least by the AMAZING bargains you find - truly jealous of those! :)
ReplyDeleteAll the reasons why you love it are the reasons why I'm scared of it! Everything is just a bit too bold for me - I am a notorious wuss though.
ReplyDeleteyou friggin' rock!
ReplyDeletei love bold prints from the 60s and 70s but i can't handle much synthetic fabric (overly sensitive skin), which really limits my options!
one of my fav things about wearing vintage is that you can choose a decade/style that suits your body, and the 70s are definitely perfect for you. i'm more of a 50's/80s gal- i need the fuller skirts to accommodate my big booty ;)
Tricel! Love that fabric. So thats me AND Scarlett both wanting to know if you wore that to the carboot - very hi-vis for Jon! I'd never have the nerve to wear it - worrying about the seams giving way - but you look amazing. Haven't worked out what decade my body shape is - erm, is 90s grunge one? ;)
ReplyDeleteYou look fab !!! I was born in 1970 it was the best decade. My Mum used to work in a pub at lunchtime and I was so proud when she collected me from school as she was SO glam :)
ReplyDeleteTwiggy x
Ah whats not to love about the 70s?! Awesome catsuit. Think I just avoid it a little cause I dont really suit non fitted clothes (ie kaftans + my body = disaster!) :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, you were MADE to wear 70s clothing. You have all the essential ingredients for a fabulous 70s look: lean body, long legs, long hair, free spirit, and beauty. :)
ReplyDeleteCat suit are awesome! You look purr fect! (excuse the pun it's been a long day!)
ReplyDeleteEverything you wear always looks like it was made for you and you always look fantastic.
Jon wouldn't loose you in that.
X x
And the Seventies adores you, gorgeous. You were made for each other!! That catsuit is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI do love the 1970,s too...I can't rock the fashion so well, but I love all the kitsch stuff, the films, TV, art and so on.
xxx
I do envy you Vix, I adore 70s clothes but they just don't fit me. What did curvy women in the the 70s wear?!
ReplyDeleteI digress anyway, you look fabulous as always and these beautiful things deserve to live out their life fabulously with you
Before I even read your post, I saw the picture and thought to myself that you do have the perfect bod for 70's fashion! Very Cher, before Cher immobilized her face and sold hair products on TV.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that belt! Je suis tres jalouse!
OMG! This is just such a fun catsuit!!! You look radiant like sunshine!!! You have a hot body and that we all know!!! :)

I love orange and that catsuit is fanfreakingtabulous. Another thing about the 70s is the fabulous music. I've just been listening to my "Disco Inferno" cd. Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt's the fantastic, incredible, innovative fashions!!! And any bloody thing else you can think of!! And,yeah,it's still pretty cheap!I guess the era is under rated and much malined.I adore it,and I adore YOU and I adore your outfit and accessories!!! WORKIN' IT!!!
ReplyDeleteLove you!!
Helga xxxXXXxxx
The 70's is a perfect era for you amor, I also adore you in your 60's frocks too. You look so bootlicious cat woman Mamas.I'm in love with your Cleopatra necklace.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky you have the figure for it!
ReplyDeleteI see you have all the sun over in England, it is colod and rainy here, still. It is ok you can keep it for the whole summer, hehehheh.
ReplyDeleteI think you love the 70s because they love you back.
You really are the best image of an era.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I adore that catsuit.. fabulous xx
ReplyDeleteI adore the 70s too, always have! I don't know why. I think it might be the colour and variety: from Gucci-inspired luxe to candy colour adidas tracksuits, 70s style is SO varied yet always distinctive. Oh, and it tends to have machine-washing instructions and other such practical things!
ReplyDeleteI read a blog once that earnestly declared there was such a thing as 'bad' (ie ugly) vintage and basically said it was 1965-1980! It advised vintage 'virgins' to steer clear of big collars, A line and crimplene. Ha! That's pretty much the only vintage I wear day-in-day-out.
I was born in the 70's so I suppose the 80's was more my decade although the fashion was pretty awful as I remember!
ReplyDeletexx
Fantastic catsuit! Have a great evening xxx
ReplyDeleteGood old 70's style - I am sure some days my patterned clothing meant I was camoflagued into the patterned sofa ;)
ReplyDeleteThought of you today when I heard on the news those 70's stars the Wombles are going to be at Glasto!!
What an amazing jumpsuit! I'd kill to find something like that, NOT that I could possibly pull it off, but a girl can dream!
ReplyDeleteI started school in the eighties and can't say I feel anywhere near as much fondness for the neon and ra-ra skirts I seem to remember from that era, so I'm going with that you love 70's fashion so much simply as it suits you so well!
xxx Maddie
You look like a goddess from the 70's, I could not imagine you in anything else! Hearts, Janna Lynn
ReplyDeleteCould Vintage Vixen be why I'm BEGINNING to love the 70s?
ReplyDeleteYou always look so fantastic! I think the 1970s seem to be such an underrated era, they seem to have been lost somewhere xx
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is FABULOUS! I LOVE wild and Colorful prints!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous in 70s stuff, you are the 70s! you and the lovely Helga have made me appreciate the 70s in a way I thought wasn't possible as a 50s chick!
ReplyDeleteIf you ever have to go undercover on an important mission and avoid being missed, can I be your life-double?
ReplyDeleteAnd we love you in the 70s gear, my dear! And pretty much anything else x
ReplyDeleteI think the 70s is under-appreciated - even I was guilty of that. Then for some reason this year I got into 70s day dresses, and they seem to fit me really well. I've been wasting my energy on the 50s all this time... :) Great jumpsuit, darling xx
ReplyDeleteLove the orange - v on-trend! What are you up to this weekend? Need details and pics! xx
ReplyDeleteYup, the 70s rock for me too. Rock music, men with long hair, flares, platforms, maxis, Tiswas, Panda Pops, Reliant Scimitars and good old crimplene - what more could a girl want? xxx
ReplyDeletewow, thhhheeese are bargains! and the catsuit definitely looks really great - the pattern and the colours are grooooovy ;)
ReplyDeleteAmazing sunglasses! I love the 1970s with a passion too xxxxx
ReplyDeleteMethinks it's because not everyone can carry off 70's glam with your flair! It really suits you vix. A phenomenal outfit! That jumpsuit is all kinds of wonderful and what a fantastic prezzie from the lovely Sarah.
ReplyDeletexxx
That catsuit is major awesome, I love love love it!!! Your picture should be arriving very soon.xx.
ReplyDeleteaaww Bless you, you look amazing ;-)) I did smile when i saw you in this cat suit such a vibrant color and a suit that oozes fun, style and grace just like the person wearing it. The 70's are just you ;-)) dee xx
ReplyDeleteLove your orange suit! I love orange 70's patterns! You look fab!
ReplyDeleteThe Seventies had panache. I haven't seen a time as exciting since then.
ReplyDeleteAwesome jumpsuit! I love the zinging colour. Nobody wears the seventies quite as well as you do Vix!
ReplyDeleteHave you got the 70's Style & Design book? It's fab. Nobody rock a jumpsuit quite like you my dear, stunning! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou look so stunning, orange is a great colour on you, Vix - sunny, and stands out from the crowd, like your good self!
ReplyDeleteThe fabric really reminds me of our dining room wallpaper, around 1972-3 I think, chosen by my big sister who was trying to trendy us up a bit!
You definitely have a fantastic figure for the late 60s-early 70s fashions. You really wear it well!
I love the 70s too. Fuss free and still flattering!
ReplyDeleteLove it VV and you rock orange well too.but what cant you look good in? Do tell me lol
ReplyDeleteThat catsuit is so hot on you! You look like you could take on the world in that!
ReplyDelete...the seventies happened because of you!...or rather FOR you! No one puts the groovy in 70s fashion quite like you do honey. You are stunning. Just stunning.
ReplyDeletethose sunglasses are totally, totally rad-very envious. I think that one has to be super in-love with a 70's outfit to pull it off - I have a couple of awesome 70's maxi's but I really have to be in a confident mood to wear them - which I do, and I always think the day after , why don't I bust these our more often? That why I love you!you just go for it - you're such an inspiration - thank you!
ReplyDeleteVix the 70's colors, shapes and fabrics textures does fit you personality and figure fantastically!
ReplyDeleteThe patchwork leather bag is so gorgeous!
Oh Vix!! That is beyond fabulous! You look bloody gorgeous. The colour is fantastic and you are totally rocking it. I absolutely love it but not as much as I love you! xx
ReplyDeletePS. I had a dream about you again last night! I don't normally remember them but they're really vivid at the moment - I think it's the nicotine patches I keep accidentally sleeping in. I'll have to fill you in later. We were at a festival so it was quite believable for a change
You look Marvelous in that orange suit Vix!!
ReplyDeleteAnd holy shizz on the price you got it for!! MY GOD!
I was born 2 years after the 70's sadly! But who cares I still think it would have been awsome!
I've just the above comment - I started school in 1972. I love the seventies.
ReplyDeletePPS. Saw this and thought of you.

It sounds great, I wish I'd gone! xx

Oh i love the orange! The catsuit really suits you
ReplyDeletexx
Hi my dear-70s is the era for you without a doubt-you look beyond gorgeous in the catsuit and I know you have many wonderful stunning 70s items that are truly appreciated too-you could open a 70s museum one day!! No-one I know wears 70s as good as you. Have a fabulous weekend xxx
ReplyDeleteThat's a catsuit and a half! If I'd have got to it first I'm sad to say it would have been cushions! xx
ReplyDeleteThose are all pretty good reasons! :D haha
ReplyDeleteYour heart beats with it, there's no clash =)
Is there anything style wise from the 70's and 60's that you don't like?
I'd be interested to see your view, because you appreciate so many rare things from the era- you make a printed orange suit look like the most sensible easiest thing to wear! (of course it's sensible, yes, but not the easiest thing- on me it would look terrible! and yet you're still making me want one!) You look so smart!
I love your acessorising and yellow nails! You're very inspiring!
As you know I adore all eras for different reasons. It pisses me off no end when people slag the 70s, but as you say, at least that makes it cheaper for those of us with REAL taste. That bag is gorgeous btw, and I love the catsuit though I don't have the bod for it.
ReplyDeleteI'm always late with commenting nowadays, I hope you know it isn't because I'm not reading but because I am so rushed lately and always leave my favourites until last so I can enjoy them properly. xx
Great reasons why to love 70s! I love it because of big hair and funky dance disco music! And awesome shoes, haha! :) You look lovely Vix!
ReplyDeleteOh my - this is an AMAZING catsuit (and don't you just love the very word 'catsuit?) 99p??! Must be the bargain of the month. And I just love the way you carry it off.
ReplyDeleteOutrageously beautiful! The 70's shine on you. I too love this era, not only for fashion, but for the dancing and relationships that graced my life during this time.
ReplyDeleteYou are just too cool. I agree, not as many people appreciate 70's style but most people can pull it off. You have the style, figure to rock any look but this works sooo well on you. Amazing bargains as always. Claire xx
ReplyDeleteOH YES !MY ERA .. brilliant outfit and brilliant smile again ..love Jan xx ;>)
ReplyDeleteOH
ReplyDeleteMY
GOD
BEST CATSUIT EVER!!!!
Amor - you look AMAZING as always - this catsuit is truly fantastic on you - and I ADORE the 70s for the same reasons! And the shoes are PERFECTION!!!
Love, Sarah xxx
Oh and the bag, belt and sunnies are frickin FANTASTIC too!
ReplyDeletexxx
I'm so glad I found you. I bought a vintage 70's dress the other week when it was £1 day at the charity shop. I didn't know what to do with it (too small for me). I've a feeling you'll love it, I'd be happy to send it to you. I found your blog via comments on Lakota's blog (Faith, Hope and Charity Shopping). You look sensational, love your style!
ReplyDeleteMy head is totally exploding from the sheer awesomeness of that catsuit. Honestly, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't like 70's fashion - it's fabulous & it certainly seems to love you!
ReplyDeleteIncredible suit, Vix. Love it! My explanation why I love the 70s so much is that I loved my curdoroy flares with big heart patches like nothing else, and because the 70s were good times for me. xxx
ReplyDeleteHow fab Vix, what a colour, what a print xx
ReplyDeleteYou just do totally suit everything about 70s style!
ReplyDeleteThere really aren't many gals out there who can wear the 70's clothes and look this freaking fabulous! Stunning
