Answers On a Postcard, Please

Whilst chatting on MSN Messenger to my beautiful friend Sarah yesterday, she asked what I was wearing. I have to admit I was stumped on how to describe this odd 1970s garment I inherited from Mum.

It's a tricky one, an all-in-one asymmetric dress with cuffed trousers built in. Whilst I love it it's not something I'll be taking to any festivals as it's far too tricky for negotiating the portaloos after one too many ciders ( I had enough trouble with it whilst sober in Mumbai).

 Here's another oddity....

I found this in with a pile of shower curtains at a jumble sale recently. It's a 1950s plastic hairdresser's cape and perfect for covering my clothes when I dye my hair as I do have a tendency to stain everything around me. 5p well spent, I'd say.

Here's something Jon thought he'd never see, my completed Glastonbury packing in all it's psychedelic glory and much of it courtesy of my fabulous blogging buddies Sarah, Helga and Desiree. I've just got to get my jewellery together and I'm done, ready for Wednesday. The jury's out about the best time to set off, the sooner the better for me.

Trivia of England all-in-one worn with Dune fringed boots (£7, Local seconds market stall), Stacks of vintage brass bangles (including a couple from my beloved Helga), African tribal choker and earrings (inherited from my Mum), Brass purse on a chain (One of a job lot from a car boot sale), Cobalt Blue nail polish (Barry M)

 Happy Monday!

  3. Mmm, not sure I like the trousers bit. Think I'd be tempted to remove them.

Who buys fringed boots like those and then doesn't wear them? I mean - you wouldn't buy them if you were a shrinking violet so how can you decide you don't like 'em....People are weird.

  4. My eyes went FIRST to those green shoes....then reading the description of the trouser feature of your outfit, I checked it out more carefully :)

Wow. I haven't seen one of those hair dresser capes for a l-o-n-g time.

What you don't come up with?!?!

  6. I really like your Mum's trouser/skirt outfit; considering its from the 70s it looks quite now. I've never seen anything like it with the in built trousers, but you definately look terrific in it and I love the contrast with those lush boots. Like mother like daughter eh?

P.S. I also have a tendancy to drop dye everywhere when I do my hair too!

  7. I have no idea what the dress/trouser outfit is called but i think its fabulous on you! I do love that hairdressers cape - what an amazing find. Scarlett x

  8. You're a dynamo. I like how you think ahead. I don't always possess such foresight and I have the ripped dress straps to prove it.

And I lurve your hair dying cape. I need that. I'm a regular Jackson Pollock when it comes to hair dye. I have a small collection of vintage hairstylist smocks from the 60's and 70's that I wish I could use in some practical fashion. I'm not a hairstylist, but sometimes, usually late on saturday nights, I pretend to be one and hack at my own hair after several white russians.

  9. I've just bought a weird playsuit a little like that, looks like a dress from the front as it has a wraparound flap of material- I agree they are tricky for trips to the loo on a night out!

Love the outfit and can't believe those Dune shoes were only £7 too. Lucky!

  20. I think I'd call it a jumpsuit, but with a wraparound front. Or perhaps we should invent a new word? Jumparound? Wrapsuit? Whatever you call it, it's fab! As someone else has said, it looks surprisingly modern too.

This time I plan to try to pack as well as you as I always take thinks I don't end up wearing.. the less luggage to take on the train the better, plus I need to leave room for any catboot sale goodies I pick up! xxx

How anyone remembers what they've seen after 24 hours is beyond me;)). Especially with such a dynamite, orange-themed wardrobe - oooh that orange floral top is going dancing weeeee!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo
