Sweet Agatha, Just Another Wardrobe Experience, Danni, Perdita, a bit of our life and Maya
Gifts, awards, lovely comments....I'll be getting a massive head soon and it'll be too big for my festival headpiece AND it's only four months till Glastonbury.
I'm supposed to share seven facts about myself with you but what don't you know already?
1. I have more jewellery than anyone else I know and I can't resist buying more as I absolutely love it. Obviously it's all second-hand or haggled over in flea markets.
2. I love reading especially books set in India, historical books and gory thrillers and can't abide slushy romance, chick lits or most sci-fi. I'm currently reading Twilight, courtesy of the lovely Amy.
3. I'm double jointed and can bend my arms around the wrong way which makes most people feel sick...so I do it all the more. I'm so evil.
4. I had my eyes tested on Friday and need reading glasses so now the hunt is on for some groovy vintage babies. Maybe I should get prescription lenses added to a pair of my sunglasses. The specs in the shops all look the same.
5. My header features Bollywood legend and Burlesque queen , Helen, not me! Thanks to those who think we are alike, this old girl's very flattered. She is my absolute idol. I blogged all about her here, back in the summer.
6. Although I love them, I cannot eat off a patterned plate, puts me right off my dinner. Darling Helga's promised to serve my food on plain crockery when I finally manage to visit.
7. I've a teaching certificate in Self-defence which I took after being molested by a perv back in 1991. Whether I'd remember how to defend myself if it ever happened again is another matter.
Any excuse to show off my velvet platform boots.
Wearing: 1960's pussybow blouse and 1980's West German-made shorts (Both jumble sale buys)
Great facts! It's great to learn more about you. xxx

ReplyDeleteHi there-what another gorgeous outfit, I'm lusting after those platform boots-they go so well with your shorts and blouse!! Fab facts and I reckon thats a really good idea to put your prescription lenses into your vintage sunglasses frames, you'll be more inclined to wear them regularly too xx
ReplyDeleteLove the fabby boots with those shorts. And I DID think it was you in your header! (ps the double jointed thing is cool, it is good to have skills that gross people out) xx
ReplyDeleteI'll have to file away your age-old tactic of revealing so much leg than nobody notices your zits! SOOOOOOO funny.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to see what you like to read...and your bookshelf looks like many of ours--full to overflowing!
I really think you should write a book. The 7 things about yourself are SO much more interesting than ANYthing I could think to post! (And I think you have 777 things you could write about!)
I'm reading Twilight, too. About halfway through. I'm not loving it, I have to say ...
ReplyDeleteyay! I'm not surprised to see others wanted to bestow you with awards!
ReplyDeleteYour facts are really good and interesting! You are such a collector!
Good luck with finding some glasses =)
I really love that shirt and the outfit of course, the boots are perfect. a velvet platform- the best.
Your blog and style deserve all the awards. Yo style is just awesome. You are very brave going bare legged. It was warmer today but still cold (or I might be just jealous of your killer legs *grin*)
ReplyDeleteGreat to get to know you better! You look so lovely in your festival headpiece, what a beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteVix I had such a treat I got to read both your posts and they are both brilliant. I love love love the postman story!!
ReplyDeleteThe maxi skirt is fan and great colours. your short and legs are fab too - what bloody zit!!
The patterned plate thing has cracked me up.
xxx
*steals your shorts and runs away*
ReplyDeleteI'm well impressed with the double jointed arms, such a great party trick for freaking people out.
ReplyDeleteP.S. What's all this about your face looking bad? You look stunning Vix - as always xxx
Those shoes are so awesome!
ReplyDeletelove this post. I had no clue there is a condition like double-joint:-) and also found it amusing that you cant eat of patterned plates:-)
Evening Vix..look at you with your bare legs...it must be spring! I too have a thing about eating off a patterned plate!
ReplyDeleteI could look at those fine boots all night.
xxx
Hi Vix, congrats on your awards, much deserved, whoops did not mean to make your head bigger. Am loving the picture of you in your festival headgear.
ReplyDeleteXXX
You have such stunning legs, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh (sigh)Nobody is looking at anything else hehehe.
ReplyDeleteXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I love the high waisted shorts, they look lovely on you :)
ReplyDeletexxx
A nice ensemble! And it is no wonder Christina had you giggling. Her lists made me smile knowingly too.
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit you look fab!
ReplyDeleteHelen is really beautiful.
xx
Congratulations. Very deserving awards! I'm with you on 1-4.
ReplyDeleteDearest Vix, it was wonderful to talk to you again today. You never fail to make me laugh, you're brilliant.
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit and the boots!! Congrats on your well deserved awards too. The festival picture is beautiful! Love the sunglass collection - you need some jazzy glasses, it wouldn't be right otherwise would it?
I only have plain white plates so when you come to stay there's nothing patterned. We're going to take you to Elaine's the restaurant I keep blogging about, my treat. We must put a date in soon. Love C xx
Congrats on the award! You do write a great blog and as always you look hot to trot gir1!
ReplyDeleteGod I love those boots.. you have great legs Vix xx
ReplyDeleteYour legs are totally fabulous! I am jealous x
ReplyDeleteWhere do you live? It was freezing here in Suffolk today - definately not bare legs weather :(
ReplyDeleteCool! Loving the bendy arm trick (husband is bendy too, he too uses it to gross peeps out).
ReplyDeleteYou DESERVE those awards, you're a bloggin' champ! In foxy boots!
WOW! Look at your legs Vix! HOT HOT HOT! I can do that with my arm as well!!! My friends hate it, it's my party trick. xxx
ReplyDeleteFirst off I love those platform boots!
ReplyDeleteOMG! At all your jewellery I have been slowly starting a collection. Hopefully after a couple years of garage sale seasons.. I will have a collection a little like yours. lol
I have a eye appointement coming up soon and will have to be getting new glasses. It's so damn hard to choose what to get! Right now I am thinking of some rectangle shaped Tortishelle frames with little rhinestone details on the sides.. but I have a few more places to check out.
The eating off a patterned plate really made me laugh. For some reason I like eating off them more than the plain ones. LOL
Oh, am I sick to be pleased that you need specs; I bet you just have the best specs ever?
ReplyDeleteGreat factiods, sorry to hear you were got at by a perv, it's a mad world out there. I got a bit wobbly when I saw your backwards arm.
Kandi x
Fab outfit as always, particularly love the blouse. You totally deserved the stylish blogger award!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit Vix, you look wonderful xxx
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh the arm the arm *covers eyes and cringes*. Made me giggle abotu the plate - I can't eat off patterned plates either, or drink out of patterned cups, makes me want to throw up, and yet, like you I love them. I think I just don't like using old stuff to eat with. I also can't use that old silver cutlery - hurl!
ReplyDeleteAwh, Vix! I was sure you'd already done the Stylish Blogger Seven, or I'd have tagged you, too. Well, thank goodness the other ladies did, so I get to read more fun facts!
ReplyDeleteI still adore your jewelry display and photo of it, and the plates with dark roses, and the info about Helen. I had wondered about your blog header.
I wonder if you'd liuke River of Gods by Ian McDonald. It's one of few fiction/science fiction works to feature a futuristic India.
Per Wikipedia: "The sprawling novel follows a number of different characters' viewpoint around August 15, 2047, the centenary of India's partition and independence from colonial Raj. This alternate India has become balkanized into smaller states like Awadh, Bharat and Bangla. The global information network is now inhabited by Artificial Intelligences, called aeais in the novel, of varying levels of intelligence.
Aeais higher than 2.5 (able to pass the Turing test) are banned, and their excommunication (destruction) is the responsibility of people like Mr. Nandha, a Krishna Cop..."
I'd love your legs! Lovely to know morte about you as always. Glad you're enjoying the book. I'm onto the third so I'll be sending that your way as soon as I'm finished. I haven't got the second or 4th as I've borrowed those from my cousin x
ReplyDeleteyour legs make me feel jealous!!! and you look absolutely amazing: this is such chic and fresh outfit! love it!
ReplyDeleteI was going to give you this award too... then I realised you already had it lol.
ReplyDeleteThose shorts are fabulous, and they go great with your funky boots!
Are you counting down to Glasto then?
xx
Great post and I'm guessing you've read 'white Mughals' ?
ReplyDeletexoxox
I always love discovering new stories about you Mamas.you kidding me..you have great stems baby.perfect way to show off your grey suede boots..I adore the way your jewelry is beautifuly displayed.oh wow ! your double jointed means you can do those Bollywood dances.
ReplyDeleteyour idol is gorgeous..I think I seen her in some Indian movies..she does resemble you a lot.
Hi Vix, I love reading your blog and seeing all your fabulous outfits ! Where do you keep all your clothes ? You must have several wardrobes full !
ReplyDeletelove Lori x
I love your shorts.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Stuart MacBride (Scottish police novels)? He's a recent discovery of mine - they're really good but quite gruesome!
ReplyDeleteOoh, can't wait to see what kind of glasses you end up with. Definitely get some lenses put in vintage frames - the frame choice out there is rubbish unless you want to spend a fortune.
You have amazing style!!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.justme-bluefemme.blogspot.com/
congrats on awards!!
ReplyDeletei like your look a lot!
Those pins! I've missed them and they are too fine to be covered. You're seriously teasing me with these boots Vix, they're phenomenal.
ReplyDeletexo
I love that fact about the plates especially, so intriguing! You look stunning in those shorts!
ReplyDeletexxx
That's a brilliant idea actually, show some leg and distract from blemishes!
ReplyDeleteI love accessories too, I should stop though! Love your outfit today, of course!
Stay Happy and Positive!
besos,
ML
20 YORK STREET
love the boots, but think you're v brave to bare leg, it's only feb and wasn't that warm here!
ReplyDeletei am being pestered to read twilight by my sisters and my whole guide unit, i must get round to them just to see if i can understand what all the fuss is about!
Your bookshelf looks a lot like mine and I had wondered whether that was you in your header!
ReplyDeleteRe: glasses: have you had a look on Glasses Direct? I got some Dierdre Barlow-esque specs from there when they had an offer on that I'd seen on MSE, they had quite a lot of retro frames. Oh this has reminded me of the enormous glass contact lenses I saw on the Antiques Roadshow a week or two ago, you might be able to find it on iPlayer, makes me shudder just thinking of them!!!
I have double jointed elbows but they don't do that!! (They rotate too far around rather disturbingly). Great shorts and boots combo and the blouse is fabulous! And love the Glasto head piece too.
ReplyDeleteOoh Vix, I AM very distracted by your amazing legs! You look beautiful to me and whoa, nobody looks better in shorts than you! I also don't like patterned plates to eat from! So glad to hear I'm not alone in that little quirk.
ReplyDeleteSarah xxx
Ha, you'll need a double-sized headband soon, Vix (nah, just kidding, I know you're totally beyond these egotrips). Loved all the little revelations, and have to admit: the double-jointedness freaks me out! xxx
ReplyDeletehehe... always wondered whether you got the award or not:) but you have a lot to receive and everyone to give. way to go! liking those shorts btw..:)
ReplyDeleteAh, another one of my favourite of Vix's outfits <3<3
ReplyDeleteTwilight is brillant isn't it? The movies and tween obsession ruined it though.
I think the round brown-ish glasses would look amazing as reading glasses. I actually really want glasses but sadly my eyesight is fine :( hahah
x x x x
Those boots and your pegs are terrific. You deserve those awards, you're a great lady who always has a kind word for everyone that you come across. I wish that there were people like you in the world. If you like Twilight than you'll adore the Sookie Stackhouse novels. The first one is called Dead until Dark and it's leaps and bounds above Twilight. You will not be disappointed.
ReplyDeletePhew I had a lot of catching up to do! I missed 3(!) of your posts so I just reread them and there's so much I want to say!! :)
ReplyDeleteFirstly, thank you for my happy birthday wish :)
Secondly, this outfit is amazing! Again, I'm rethinking pussybow neckline because I always thought it made me look silly but everyone that i've seen wearing it in the blogspehere was just phenomenal! And those shorts go so well with it!!
Thridly, blogging is amazing!! Seriously, what do people do if they dont blog?! (Haha, i guess they go to work and have lives or something :P :D) but I just can't imagine my life without it!!
And lastly, i'm so totally bookmarking your ebay rules!! :)
Your velvet boots are so beautiful ! And I love the place where you put your jewelries !
ReplyDeletehttp://selenite.weebly.com/
You have more books and jewellery that I could ever dream of owning. The boots look fabulous and I’m sure you will find some wonderful reading glasses on your travels xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo jealous! It won't be warm enough in Scotland to go bare-legged until at least August!! xx
ReplyDeleteI thought it was freezing up there? How are you in bare legs? ... I enjoy knowing more about you ... but now I feel I know YOU! I knew all this about you in bits and pieces :)
ReplyDeleteCan't beleve it was warm enough for shorts. It's been bloody freezin up here.
ReplyDeleteFantastic facts Vix. What an awful reason to take up self defence but well done on getting the teaching certificate. Love unusual facts like that you can't eat off a patterned plate! x
