It's been such a vile, wet and grey day here so receiving a parcel from my darling Helga, currently swanning around aboard a cruise ship, brightened up my day no end. In amongst the treats was this glorious 1970's turquoise nylon nightie. I always sleep naked (apart from my jewellery) so this is just the thing for lounging around in the evening.
The clever little minx also made me this amazing leopard print hair bow.
Jon had an eye test today so I walked into town with him and had a cheeky peek around the Wednesday curio market and town centre charity shops. Needless to say a browse turned into a spend and couldn't resist snaffling these:
A gorgeous leather waste bin for the lounge
Made by Hardy Amies, no less!
Despite being pointy and low-heeled (two things I cannot abide in footwear) these vintage Clarks' tan leather "Country Club" shoes look rather cool with the teal tights I was wearing earlier. Just £1.75 and so comfortable.
This purple Terylene dinner jacket was £5 and still has the dry cleaner's tags inside.
I love the dandyish red satin lining. Jon looks fab in it but he's convinced he looks like an "Eighties saddo" (we all wore black vintage dinner jackets back in the day) but I shall talk him around in the end.
I loved the groovy buckle on the 1970's vinyl waist belt and at 75p it was rude not to buy it.
Whilst browsing on the market a lovely antique trader asked if I was Vintage Vixen, it was the gorgeous Vintage Laura's mum. What a small world.
Red wine? Well, it is Wednesday.
Pink wine for me tonight ;) that nightie is gorgeous as a day dress and far too pretty to be hidden under a pile of blankets (however gorgeous and vintage they may be!) x
ReplyDeleteThat nightie is beautiful, the colour is amazing! You have some lovely finds there too, I can't wait to go out shopping.... I have a day off tomorrow, well earned i'd say! x
ReplyDeleteHow weird - I was only thinking about looking for vintage nightwear last night!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid it's comfy PJs all the way for me at the moment, but you even manage to look glam at night x
More amazing finds, Vix! How weird must it be to be noticed through your blog... Becoming a celebrity, you are! xxx
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely your colour. To the nth degree. I'm with you on the buckle. Low heels are fine. Pointy toes? Impossible.

Wow! Helga really knows what will look good on you! The nightie looks as if it was made for you! The leopard print hair bow looks so sweet. You found some great things today! I will be going on a charity shop binge this Saturday.. wish me luck! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhy do I find it sounding so strange to say 'great bin'!! Bins are very often under valued items, where would we be without them! I need to find a stylish bedroom bin, mine is a 50p purple plastic one with hearts cut out, but the cut outs snag the plastic bags when tring to pull them out. I will take your lead and look out for a nice charity shop one x
ReplyDeleteWow, what a color!! love the ruffle on the top and what pretty finds!!
ReplyDeleteHelgita knows you to a "T"..you wicked twin witch sisters...I adorar that color brings out your eyes and hair..those are some bitching finds..i havent gone thrifting still feeling a bit weak at the moment.I love the brown 40's shoes and for that price ..whoa mama.
ReplyDeleteYou and Helga have a psychic connection, don't you. The nightie is fabulous, and I'm glad to see it accessorised with a glass of wine. Love the Clarks shoes too, so ladylike (don't kill me for saying that ;) x

Wow - don't you look glam in that nightie? Gorgeous colour. I'm joining you in a Wed night glass of red. Justified by work being so stressy - I'm on the verge of a Malcolm Tucker style meltdown! xx

That is the most glamourous nightie I have ever seen, but it just seems so impractical to sleep in something so long.
ReplyDeleteI've got bin-envy. It feels so wrong.
Enjoy the wine. Antibiotics mean tonight I shall be supping on Becks Blue but cheers none-the-less x
Gorgeous nightie x
ReplyDeleteAll very amazing finds!! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous colour on that nightie - and more brilliant charity shop finds. You are so right by the way - kneading is theraputic and I love to make bread "the long way" when I have time. xxx
ReplyDeleteYou celeb you! What a glamourous nightie and what another great haul - I love the leather bin!
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes for some reason. They could be so matronly, but they could also be so cool worn with the right outfit and attitude. Love the refreshing turquoise nightie -- yes, I think vintage nylon nighties would be great for lounging around, but I don't know how women ever actually slept comfortably in them!
ReplyDeleteDarn, we are so out of red wine. I was too lazy to replanish at a grocery store today -- I told myself it was too snowy to drive there. Well, tomorrow. A glass (or two) is good for cardiovascular health, you know!
that is a beautiful nightie Vix! You look gorgeous. xxx
ReplyDeleteThis nightie looks really good on you. Love the shape of it, plus turquoise on dark haired ladies always looks amazing))
ReplyDeleteWell someone is turning into a vintage blogger celeb! Just don't turn snobby on me ;) haha

Helga finds the most amazing things doesn't she? That nightie is absolutely divine - such a beautiful colour.
ReplyDeleteI'm another one who's jealous of the bin! It's the sort of item that I bedgrudge spending money on so clearly I'll have to keep my eyes peeled in the charity shops.
Oh you could not look less than glamorous in a million years! Helga has SUCH a good eye and that colour is divine on you! I love the purple dinner jacket and the leather bin is lovely too! Sarah xxx

ReplyDeleteYou know, one day this year I'm going to invite myself over to Walsall on the train and go charity shopping with you, the bargains around there seem far better than anything on offer around here! xx

Love the vintage nightie and the dinner jacket. They are fabulous. Can you please do a post on how you stay so skinny? I need a good diet to follow. I'm a fat ass, and my New Year's resolution is to lose a few pounds.
ReplyDeleteLove you.
