My Nightie & My Day

It's been such a vile, wet and grey day here so receiving a parcel from my darling Helga, currently swanning around aboard a cruise ship, brightened up my day no end. In amongst the treats was this glorious 1970's turquoise nylon nightie. I always sleep naked (apart from my jewellery) so this is just the thing for lounging around in the evening.

The clever little minx also made me this amazing leopard print hair bow.

Jon had an eye test today so I walked into town with him and had a cheeky peek around the Wednesday curio market and town centre charity shops. Needless to say a browse turned into a spend and couldn't resist snaffling these:

A gorgeous leather waste bin for the lounge

Made by Hardy Amies, no less!

Despite being pointy and low-heeled (two things I cannot abide in footwear) these vintage Clarks' tan leather "Country Club" shoes look rather cool with the teal tights I was wearing earlier. Just £1.75 and so comfortable.

This purple Terylene dinner jacket was £5 and still has the dry cleaner's tags inside.

I love the dandyish red satin lining. Jon looks fab in it but he's convinced he looks like an "Eighties saddo" (we all wore black vintage dinner jackets back in the day) but I shall talk him around in the end.

I loved the groovy buckle on the 1970's vinyl waist belt and at 75p it was rude not to buy it.

Whilst browsing on the market a lovely antique trader asked if I was Vintage Vixen, it was the gorgeous Vintage Laura's mum. What a small world.

Red wine? Well, it is Wednesday.

  1. Pink wine for me tonight ;) that nightie is gorgeous as a day dress and far too pretty to be hidden under a pile of blankets (however gorgeous and vintage they may be!) x

  14. Why do I find it sounding so strange to say 'great bin'!! Bins are very often under valued items, where would we be without them! I need to find a stylish bedroom bin, mine is a 50p purple plastic one with hearts cut out, but the cut outs snag the plastic bags when tring to pull them out. I will take your lead and look out for a nice charity shop one x

  26. That is the most glamourous nightie I have ever seen, but it just seems so impractical to sleep in something so long.

I've got bin-envy. It feels so wrong.

Enjoy the wine. Antibiotics mean tonight I shall be supping on Becks Blue but cheers none-the-less x

  29. I love those shoes for some reason. They could be so matronly, but they could also be so cool worn with the right outfit and attitude. Love the refreshing turquoise nightie -- yes, I think vintage nylon nighties would be great for lounging around, but I don't know how women ever actually slept comfortably in them!

Darn, we are so out of red wine. I was too lazy to replanish at a grocery store today -- I told myself it was too snowy to drive there. Well, tomorrow. A glass (or two) is good for cardiovascular health, you know!
