I haven't really spent today lounging on my day bed, I'm just supervising Jon whilst he hangs some pictures up in the guest bedroom. Hopefully it'll be finished soon and we can reveal the end result but, be warned, my dear old man does like to take his time.
Wearing a 1970's midi dress (local vintage shop £7) and some fairly low heeled vintage lace-up suede boots (Car boot sale £1) I've limped all the way into town and back to buy sun screen. I knocked the entire display of painkillers off the shelves in Poundland and couldn't bend down far enough to pick them all up...how embarrasing, I'm such an old wreck!
I've made myself a new beach bag using one of the 1950's barkcloth curtains we bought at a jumble sale a few weeks ago......
...which I've lined with a shower curtain from Poundland.
I've also played with Stephen Squirrel as he's feeling neglected after Polly's appearance on the blog yesterday.
He's not fat, he's just fluffy.
Can you see his patchy side? When he was ill a few weeks ago he had to have an ECG and be shaved, poor little man.
Ohh I love your boots, I have been looking for some today and the ones I like are £89 - bloody hell :( Your beach bag is fab, I line some of my makeup bags with Asda £1 shower curtains too :) Bet you are getting excited preparing for Goa.
ReplyDeleteKandi x
Aww poor Stephen Squirrel, hope he's all better now? He's a cutie.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your holiday buying. Sun cream and making beach bags...gloves and thick socks for me. :)
xx
ohh how I envey you.....no winter sunshine for me this year but who knows......lassi anyone??
ReplyDeleteGreat boots. You look quite strict. Suitable for a disciplinarian role keeping Jon in line. I bet he quakes! Dear cat!
ReplyDeleteStephen is adorable; he’s got such long whiskers too! Your beach bag is not only lovely but practical too, how do you think of all these things, I’m sure it will be perfect for Goa. Can’t wait to see/hear more about the guest room, very intrigued indeed xx
ReplyDeleteLove your bag Vix, great idea to line it with a shower curtain, i'm trying to make Fee a 'jacket/coat/thing out of one to go over her normal coat, its not going well though!
ReplyDeleteStephen is gorgeous! xxx
Loving the bag too. You're a genius!! I hope Jon is good at putting pictures up straight. Mr J and P has a terrible tendency towards the wonky!
ReplyDeleteHi there-the bag looks a fabulous diy job, well done! Just loving your vintage dress too, gorgeous indeed! xx
ReplyDeleteAww, poor little Stephen! You are just trying to distinguish the cat people from the dog people aren't you ;) Thank you so much for the sock offer, you are LOVELY xx
ReplyDeleteYou look erm very wistful today ,the bag is lovely ,I enjoyed watching Kirsty last night ,an excellent show ....love Jan xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! You look like a tiny little thing in that dress - the boots are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteSuntan lotion - you are making me so jealous! I have a lovely mate who lives part of the year in Goa and part in warwickshire and belgium!
That bag lining is such a good -just right for the beach. I think we must both be a pair of old wrecks - I went to see Goldfrapp last night and after an hour and half of dancing in 4" wedges I'm really feeling the pain today!
ReplyDeleteThe bag is just perfect!! I hope ur knees feel better soon..sending love ur way!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the knee is still bothering you, Vix. HIGH TIME for sun and beach, I guess.
ReplyDeleteTotally adore your dress (good you don't wear boring suits anymore, it's hard to imagine, really), and the sweetest kitty (which looks very much like our Lily). And men, they just like taking their time, don't they? (Mine calls it 'doing things right.') xxx
O,Stephen!! Soooooo cuddly,and so handsome!!

ReplyDeleteHe's just fluffy! You my dear, on the other hand, are looking svelte and gorgeous as ever, whether or not you can bend over! XX!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment on my blog yesterday. So nice to see stephen Squirrel again, he's adorable, also loving the boots. What a great idea to use a shower curtain to line your beach bag, that's an idea I might just have to steal ;)xxx
ReplyDeleteI love barkcloth. Sounds like you could have done with my uncle's assistance dog today. He's a big black labrador and his favorite task is picking things up off the floor...in return for dog biscuits of course x
ReplyDeleteTell Jon to get a move on with the spare room - I'd love to do a 'Home is where the art is' post on your gorgeous house - That's Not My Age awaits!
ReplyDeleteOh Stephen, what a handsome chap you are. I nearly cried when Oscar had to get a patch on his leg shaved when he went in to get his teeth done - they look so vulnerable with no fluff :(
ReplyDeleteThe midi dress is a marvel. I thought it was a blouse and pinafore affair at first but it's just delicious.
Oh gosh you poor thing but at least you look splendidly attired. Great cat and so fluffy! Love your bag - well lined. Have you tried the vinegar Christina mention it is meant to be excellent for arthritis? xx
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww, your kitties are so cute!!
ReplyDeleteAnd your dresses are beautiful. Getting my reading up to date now =)
I also liked the post where you showed how stylish and a good bargain hunter your man is =)
Have a lovely Thursday!
Jungle World Citizen
Hope you are better soon! I had an embarassing moment todat too! I was on the train with my iPod on and the speaker cable wasn't in and I didn;t realise until someone told me so everyone got to appreciate the music I was playing...oooops! x
ReplyDeleteI was limping all over morrisons with foot cramp too, it's the damn cold weather. I love the not fat just fluffy argument, I'm going to start using that one lol. Xxx
ReplyDeleteI wouldnt of blamed you if you HAD lounged on your day bed all day :D
ReplyDeleteLove the bag - v creative use of a shower curtain - I just wouldnt of thought of it :D

oh Vix!
ReplyDeleteStephen reminds me of my baby boy, Rex (name appropriate, a 6-toed maine-coon male).
RIP he passed from diabetes :(
He was considered Obese by our vet.
He was a fluffer, yellow and only 16 lbs :)
When you get time, could I pick your beautiful brain on the best way to start up a shop?
I am so unfamiliar with selling stuff on the net. I've only ever had "yard sales" which are pretty easy.
A dollar here, a quarter there.......
I am afraid I am out of my head to start this!
EEk! Am I nuts ?????
Love always,
Reva
PS when are u leaving us?
Love that bag and what a blumming good idea to line it with a cheap shower curtain, genius, I shall steal that at some point if that's ok ;o)
ReplyDeleteha ha ha I meant the idea not the bag!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE cats, and that cat is sooooo cute!!!
ReplyDeleteNice job with the bag. I like the orange part because it looks like the light shining through the window with those stripes :)
On a bee,
Berlin
Awwww your cat is so so cute! I want to cuddle him. The beach bag is awesome too. xxx
ReplyDelete'Mazin' blouse! It's so 80s garish-in-a-good-way crossed with 70's flounce.
ReplyDeleteGreat beach bag idea! I always want to copy everything you do - imagine a Vix's tips and tricks book!!! it would be *AMAZING*
ReplyDeleteWhat's happening with your kitty cats when you go away? x
You're the first person to convince me that a midi length can be flattering - another fabulous 70's dress! I love the lace up boots too. Your DIY skills never fail to inspire and amaze me! Best wishes for the moggy's recovery.
ReplyDeleteLove the deep rich colors on your dress...the jewelry is so pretty too!
