Inspired by fab new friend and fellow vintage lover, Sarah at Misfits Vintage, I've had a yellow-themed day.
1960's tunic (courtesy of my darling Helga), Kate Moss at TopShop striped shorts and vintage suede jerkin (Both £1 each, car boot sales), Beret (jumble sale), Shoes (£5 Topshop sale), Grey opaques (Kid's school uniform, local market stall), Jewellery (India/Inherited)
Not only did I have lashings of butter on my midday malf loaf but I donned my cable knit beret and Kate Moss shorts and, to keep up with my crafty challenge, made a funky strapless beach dress. I've got hundreds of sarongs but they do my head in, they always fall off at the most inappropriate of moments.
Flamingo printed fabric (25p charity shop), Yellow cotton and elastic (both car boot sale finds)
Should a woman of my advanced years be seen in public wearing hot pants?
If you'd have asked a more inhibited me twenty years ago I'd have said no but nowadays I couldn't care less whether it's right or wrong, I didn't hear any complaints when I walked to the newagents earlier.
More parcels containing wonderful things from special friends arrived today, all will be revealed tomorrow!
You have such killer legs Vix x

So so SO good! I'm jealous of your legs. When you're debating to wear hot pants or not, remember that a 13 year old is jealous of your legs.

Dear Vixy,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sacramento...
If you've got it, FLAUNT IT!
I've seen some chicks in their 20s wearing hot pants that don't even come close to looking as fab as you do in your pair.
Last Saturday a big group of vivacious & attractive middle-aged women came to the pub & my younger (male) college was abhorred by the fact that some of them were wearing very short skirts & plunging necklines.
He said that he’d die of embarrassment if his mum went out like that.
I glanced over & said to him that although they were wearing the same sort of apparel that a much younger woman would wear; it was obvious to me that their outfits had been put together with the greatest consideration to avoid looking vulgar.
If they had been dressed like Katie Price doing a book launch then fair enough, I would probably have had to agree with my college but I like to think that unlike KP most women have a little decorum.
If my ass grows to the size of Marble Arch then I’ll probably choose not to wear mini skirts anymore & if I develop hand glide worthy bingo wings I’ll probably choose to wear cover-ups but until such time I shall steadfastly maintain that there should be no age limit on any attire in my wardrobe!
Lot’ s of love,
…xXx
ohhhh, your legs make me feel jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteVix that colour is fab on the beret! Love you outfit. I loathe any views other than wear what you want! The yellow theme is wonderful and so true about sarongs xx
ReplyDeleteHi there-you look totally gorgeous in hot pants and the tunic from Helga looks adorable-I just love the yellow beret too! xx
ReplyDeleteI don't have your lovely figure, but we share the same attitude, if I look nice, that'll do for me! I think you always look lovely....x
ReplyDeleteYou look smoking HOT in those HOT shorts Vix! x
ReplyDeleteFrankly, with those legs, age simply doesn't come into it. Like many of the other girls have said - if you've got it, flaunt it! Plus, I always think opaques lend a demure edge to anything.
ReplyDeleteLoving the yellow idea too - it's such a sunny colour to wear!
You look amazing in the hot pants you should wear them every day! I also have a yellow hat will have to dig that out x
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous and VERY appropriate my love!
ReplyDeleteI'll post the "history" of thanksgiving tomorrow :)

Dear Vix, I think it doesn't matter how old you are, if you've got it... and you most definitely have. Your legs are amazing in hot pants. Love the tunic and the shorts together. I'm just about to start watching I'm a Celeb. Can't believe Gillian is still there!! Why?? xx
ReplyDeleteYou look more beautiful in every post I see! That outfit is so perfect and the colours are so autumnal. x
ReplyDeleteShould you be seen in hotpants? Age shmage! With legs like those most definitely yes!!
ReplyDeleteYou should NEVER think you can't wear shorts! The opaques will always cover a variety of ills though-not that you need to worry about that!
ReplyDeletePS. Love the yellow beach dress, the elastic is a wise move. I've come a cropper with a sarong on a few occasions! xx
ReplyDeleteVixen--the yellow dress turned out wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteLove it. All of it. But especially you.
ReplyDeleteSod the rulemakers. They'd probably say that a size 14 girl with distinctly chunky thighs shouldn't wear shorts either, but I don't let that stop me!
Love the tunic, the vest, everything today! And girl, you look HOT! You pull off hot pants better than I ever could and I'm 21! Don't change :)

ReplyDeleteWith pins like yours it's a crime to keep them covered ;)
ReplyDeleteHell yeah you should be wearing hot pants. Age is irrelevant, it's how you feel and look in them that matters. You have amazing legs and look fab!
ReplyDeleteLove the flamingo print dress you made. I agree with you about sarongs. They can be so pretty but do always fall down or come loose.
x
