I was drooling over a psychedelic catsuit in a city centre vintage boutique the other day. As I'm sometimes told I look like Cher it seemed just what I needed but at £45?! I'd never spend that kind of money.
Unable to sleep a few nights later I typed "Catsuit" into eBay's search engine and this little vintage beauty popped up. I used my favourite eBay sniping tool to place a bid for me in the dying seconds of the auction and when I checked the next day I'd won it for 99p.
One of my friends is throwing a Curry-aoke on Saturday night (homemade Indian food and karaoke) so I'll be able to perform "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" in the kind of outfit outfit Cher would have worn.
1970's catsuit (eBay), Vintage gilet (Scope), Bardot boots (TopShop sale, 2005), Tibetan tribal choker (India), Nails painted in Barry M's Block Orange |
eBay's come up trumps again this week. Watch this space for a nippy little 1970's-tastic purchase I'll be showing off very soon!
Wow!! Loving the colours, and you definitely work the catsuit well.
ReplyDeleteCher would applaud your work. And I love to see a rendition of G,T & T, my fave Cher song.
xx
p.s love the plait.
Brilliant outfit! I love a bit of early Cher...
ReplyDeleteWhat a tangerine dream of a playsuit banish the winter blues! Love it with the gilet and boots. I wish I could wear those lively shades but orange and yellow don't suit me sadly. I have a post request if you haven't already done one similiar already. I've had good and bad experiences buying on ebay. Could you give us some tips on ebay searching and buying to sort the wheat from the chaff? (The sniping link is a good tip!)
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing catsuit, I am so envious of your bargain hunting skills.
ReplyDeleteOh Vix, you really brighten up a very stressy and miserable Tuesday. I adore the colour and vibrancy of this and let's be honest, every girl needs a catsuit.
ReplyDeleteHoly FECK!! That's amaaaazing!! Fabbo, darl,I bloody love it.The colours are superb.and you've styled it like a dream!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Helga xxxXXXxxx
I love how you've teamed your catsuit with the gilet and thumbs up for Barry M too!
ReplyDeleteyour so catty..suits u perfectamente with those fab botas..thats a steal..I must know ur buying secretos...you do kind resemble Cher but your better looking..love that song too..especially that movie "Moonstruck." so romantic.
ReplyDeletehehe, awesome. I do love me some ebay, but it is so addictive. I sometimes have to give myself a stern talking to in order to leave the computer. It really is the modern equivalent of a boot sale, isn't it.
ReplyDeleteThat is one amazing piece - looks great with the neutral boots!
ReplyDeletexxx Comtesse xxx
eBay never fails to amaze, I could spend hours typing and browsing through, sometimes I’m just fascinated to see what’s around. This for one is an absolute bargain, so bright and vibrant, a perfect find xx
ReplyDeleteYou DO resemble Cher! And only you (and Cher) could get away with this outfit :)
ReplyDeleteHow about posting a video of your performance for all of us !?!
I never thought of it before, but there really is a resemblance between you and Cher. That's awesome!! :) You look amazing in this suit. The colors suit you. And Indian food sounds SO good right now...drool.
ReplyDeleteLoving the gilet with that. Inspired.
ReplyDeleteHi my dear-you look totally gorgeous and what an amazing bargain you found with that catsuit-you'll so wow everyone on Saturday night! xx

ReplyDelete99p, wow, what a bargain for this gorgeous piece. And you look fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI love that Cher song. Fab Ebay bargain x
ReplyDeleteOk I think this has to be my favourite outfit ever, it is amazing and you wear it so well!! I use bidnapper when auctions are ending in the middle of the night or I wont be in or when it is too an important a find to risk my internet crashing, but I do find it takes the excitement out of bidding at the last minute.
ReplyDeleteI love that you find and wear these pieces that most people wouldn't dare to (and I mean that in a good way). What a way to brighten up a dull winter day x
ReplyDeletePS, please could we have a post about non-designer labels to look out for when hunting down vintage items?
Um, Vix, we are going to need a video of the Curry-oke! XX!
ReplyDeletethis looks like the perfect outfit for your event!! love your hair in a plait too.
ReplyDeleteHi Vix, I m so glad you found your groovy catsuit at a bargain price and of course, you look fab in it !

ReplyDeleteFab outfit and the curryaoke sounds brill. Went to one in an Indian restaurant once - great laugh. xx
ReplyDeleteHey Viki,
ReplyDeleteCan i please ask where you find the cheapest travel tickets you buy to places like India and the hotels you stay at?
I am finding it incredibly hard searching for cheap holidays to anywhere really, the further from the UK the better.
How do you normally search and research /plan your trips? any hints, advice please seeing as you are an avid traveller.
Thankyou :) and keep up your fantastic blogx
Bella.
I almost have tears. Can I come on Saturday? That sounds like the perfect night and you are surely wearing one of the most amazing garments imaginable! Tremendous! (Plus you're far foxier than plastic Cher...)
ReplyDeleteI can just see you on that karaoke belting out Gypsies, tramps & thieves, you'll really be looking the part - another great bargain. : D xxx

PS. Thanks for the wonderful comments about the Kim interview. I really appreciate it xxx
ReplyDeletesuch vibrant and optimistic look! thanks to such brilliant colorful jumpsuit, november becomes less and less depressing!
ReplyDeleteAren't sniper tools a godsend! I always use them. That way you don't get too carried away with the bidding.
ReplyDeleteYou do remind me of Cher, and i'd absolutely love to see your reindition on a saturday night in the local pub ;)
Fantastic! Such a lovely colour, it really suits your skintone xx
ReplyDeleteOMG, Vix, you are just the GODDESS of vintage thrifting (sorry, I know you don't like this word, but 99p?!?!?!?) You look absolutely stunning. Love the colours, the pattern, the cut. Better than Cher! xxx
ReplyDeleteHow cool is this retro jumpsuit? the colors are fabulous...love how you paired it with the vest..totally original, totally YOU:)
ReplyDeleteStop by and say Hello ♥
Statements in Fashion Blog!
Ooh, that's a lot of orange there.
ReplyDeleteI really like the vest, it helps to tone down the orange :)
The necklace is just attractive!
Have a pleasant day,
Berlin
Totally perfect !
ReplyDeleteMy dear, Vix can you send me your adress for the little necklace ?
(my e-mail : myprettycraft@voila.fr)
Thank you !
Wowwee! That is one bright outfit, very psychedelic looking! The cross body bag kinda tops off the outfit even though it's so small! The gillet looks so cozy!
ReplyDeleteCurry-oke!!!!!! That's brilliant!!!
ReplyDeleteI am drooling over everything you're wearing you Vixen you! You look Cher-tastic but also and more so... you look wonderfully signature Vix.
Fantastic outfit! Sadly that colour would do nothing for me - far too pasty-faced! Love your blog, just stumbled across it via Penny Dreadful on Sunday and ended up browsing through instead of doing chores...Oh and I have had many a great bargain on Ebay too, but sniping sites?!! I am so naive! Thanks for the tip-off!
ReplyDeleteYou are lovely, all of you. I'm glad you like the jumpsuit. My styling is, as always, a happy accident. I never buy things to match anything else and just pop on whatever feels right.
ReplyDelete@ Veshoevius, Rose & Bird & Bella - Great suggestions, I'll get working on them, expect a post soon.
@ Little Scribbler - you can come with pleasure, bring the pink leopard print boots.
@ Catherine & Lori - Lovely to meet you.
@ Rebecca, Shari, Sarah, Vint Junky & Terri - My dreadful singing voice is a local legend. I've actually been carried off stage in the past for upsetting the punters. How I managed to pull a successful musician is one of life's great mysteries.
Love to you all,
Vix
xxx
A dreadful singing voice? C'mon, you can't get out of it that easily. I'll bet you'd do a great job of lip-synching! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy dear, dear friend, I am fine. You are too quick of a poster to catch up with. And before you know your post desappears he, he,he..
ReplyDeleteHow do you do it?????. I can hardly post every 4 days...But then again you are magic.
Un abrazo
