We're just popping out for a cheeky midweek pint, I need it. I'm feeling emotionally drained from watching the footage of the Chilean miners' rescue and I could do with a break from the goggle box before The Apprentice.
I thought I'd wear the 1960's cape dress I bought from The Vintage Village at last year's Clothes Show Live.
The lovely Jazz asked whether wearing a cape was uncomfortable when she commented on Monday's blog post. To be honest it's tricky knowing what to do with your arms so I usually make like the Queen and get Jon to put my purse in his coat pocket.
Jazz also wondered if I had any costly clothes in my wardrobe. This outfit is expensive by my standards - the dress was £15 and the boots were £20. The silver breast plate was a birthday present last year.
I've got a girly day planned tomorrow visiting the charity shops of a nearby footballer's wives town and a Wetherspoon's pub lunch. Hopefully they'll be goodies to report back on.
Gorgeous! Look at your legs, girl...they are works or art!! Charity shops in a WAG town should be interesting...can't wait to see the finds. Have fun! xxx
ReplyDeleteDitto what Ivy Black said, should be interesting to see what WAG cast offs are around! Lovely dress by the way, have a g'n't for me x
ReplyDeleteLoving the fall of this dress. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, hugs for the last pic. Lovely lovely lovely!!
Such a gorgeous dress Vix. I adore capes they look fab. Your blog is inspiring me to get some style other than whats the latest in M&S and Next! Have fun shopping.

Love this dress and love your smile Vix. Perhaps you'll let me tag along for a pint and some chips! Can't wait to see what tomorrow's shopping brings. Crossing my fingers for some spectacular finds, Vix style! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a splendiferous dress! Anyone as gorgeous as you definitely deserves a handy male around to hold your purse.
ReplyDeleteI wish I wasn't stuck at work and could watch coverage of the miner's release. I've been following it on the news and radio all along and it's a tad irritating not to see the important part!
Ooh pretty dress, love the colours. Jealous much of the pub part too! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely dress. Looking forward to seeing your chazzing booty tomorrow. Can't wait for The Apprentice later - love it.
ReplyDeleteThis dress is lovely. Green is GORGEOUS on you! This may be one of my favorite VV outfits! Maybe. There are dozens to choose from. :)
ReplyDeletePS. "bee-stung pout" Best. Description. Ever.
The shape, print and colour of that dress is super - love the bold accessories you've teamed with it. And yes - someone earlier has mentioned your legs - you could totally do leggings! Can't wait to see what you find at the footballers wive's town!
ReplyDeleteAnd once again, you look incredible x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress Vix and lovely photos! Hope you find lots of goodies tomorrow xxx
ReplyDeleteLoving the cape dress, Vix and the boots look great on your pins. Fingers crossed you find lots of goodies on your girly day out - hopefully none of the pink diamante bespeckled velour WAG-tastic lounge suits though!
ReplyDeleteLoving the cape-style of this dress! There isnt a better way of spending the day than in a decent charity shop!
ReplyDeletelove x
I bet you've got quite a few expensive items in your wardrobe - just you didn't pay so much for them! A cape requires a bit of attitude, like having someone else carry your handbag... Enjoy your pint, Vix! xxx
ReplyDeleteI think you are planning your life beautifully, as well as your outfit. Enjoy your pint.

I expect gaudy jewellery, high heels and maybe some faux fur in that stash then, with maybe a footballers number stashed in a pocket. :)
ReplyDeleteYour hair is looking beautiful, and lovely pic of you smiling at the end.
Have a great eve, nothing like a cheeky pint, we've got the family round tonight, but definate pint tomorrow evening, bring on the cider.

this may be the most beautiful outfit I've seen so far. LOVE the cape style dress with the all black legs and shoes and the statement necklace!
ReplyDeleteWe just heard the miners got out. Rod just told me, I don't listen to national news ( too skewed here, only listen to BBC, which I haven't done for a long time )
Have a pint for me! (I miss having a drink once in a while, darn liver ;)

Dear Vix,
ReplyDeleteThat colour looks mighty fine you.
The print is fabulous & the cut is awesome,
I love it!
I popped down to one of my local charity shops today; one that I used to frequent very often cause when we first moved here nothing in the shop was ever priced above £2.50; sadly all that changed a few years ago after the shop had a hairy Mary Portas stylee makeover.
Now they are charging £4.50 for a used faux-leather handbag made in China, that you can probably get in the Primark sale for a quid.
So gone are the days of me leaving that shop laden with goodies :(
I did buy a book for a friends kid though; The Marshall illustrated encyclopaedia of animals for £2.
Hope you have better luck in sourcing out bargain goodies tomorrow, have a flair- & fun filled day my dear!
Lot’s of love,
Jem
…xXx
I love this dress and I love the last pic of you laughing - you look really relaxed and happy. xx

That outfit was well worth the 'expensive' price tag! Anything green is always good in my opinion =) xxx
ReplyDeleteI've only had time so far to watch one of the miners come up -- but even that one had me in tears. I should check on the so exquisitely slow progress of this effort.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what kind of charity shop items would be available near a footballers' wives town? Do you expect interesting vintage or not-so-interesting contemporary bling?
oh, vix! thank-you for answering both my questions, it's so kind of you! brilliant idea to let john hold your purse and hopefully bags full of bargains! :) weirdly enough, your post title is my all time favourite programme, two pints of lager and a packet of crisps! maybe it's a sign? hehe.
ReplyDeleteyou look so lovely in the last shot, the breast plate is wonderful! looking forward to seeing what you pick up in the charity shops! xxx
Your day tomorrow sounds like a dream! (can you tell I desperately need a day off? ;-). And that necklace is brilliant. Love this look. Love your smile too! You are lovely and fun and unique and clever and I like you.

Dear Vix, the dress is a fabulous shape! I never have pockets on any of my clothes. I think any excuse for a midweek pint personally. Hope you had a great afternoon. I love The Apprentice too. My neighbours are having the upstairs windows painted now. They've moved the scaffolding which has stopped my Sky dish working! I nearly had a nervous breakdown yesterday when I realised. Thank God for the internet! I hope it's all back to normal by the weekend. You don't realise how much you miss it 'til it's gone xx
ReplyDeleteYou sure have many wonderful printed dress.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a color I normally wear but it really looks great on you. It's vibrant and your smile just makes me like it more :D

Hi my dear-the dress is so unique and stylish, looking lovely as ever! have a fun day today! x
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day charity shopping!! I think the dress is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteyour necklace is so fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLovely dress, I didn’t actually realise it was a cape until I read underneath. I love the colours, and the print xx
ReplyDeleteYou make wearing a Cape Dress look easy. I think I would get quite tangled in it! The colors are a striking contrast to your beautiful hair color...
ReplyDeleteQuite an unusual breast plate. Don't know that I've ever seen such a thing!
ohhhh i am seriously in love with that breast plate Vix, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm glued to the googlebox at the mo, i need some serious motivation to even move off sofa to retrieve the remote ;)
x
Love that dress, Vix, and wholeheartedly agree re the miners, I had to open a bottle last night after being glued to it all day. xx
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your mid-week pint, Vix! Nothing's more fun than some spontaneous, unplanned drinking or eating or, really, anything unplanned and unexpected (good unexpected, that is - I hate bad surprises :-))
ReplyDeleteLove the green on you!
xxx
Hello Vix. . another inspiring outfit, as always. Indeed, I was wondering about the 'ease' of capes. .
ReplyDeleteHope you've scored big time with your finds. .
and just to let you know, I did a post on my jewelry and trinkets. . inspired by you! :)

just another amazing dress... normaly i don't like green too much...but i could get green with envy because of this cape dress.
ReplyDeletehttp://wardrobexperience.blogspot.com/
What an absolutely fab dress it looks perfect with the necklace! I find capes really annoying with regards to bags, you can really only do a clutch or bowling bag but hey who needs to be practical!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is fantastic. I've never seen a cape dress on but the style totally works for you. Hope you enjoyed your drink or two! x
ReplyDeleteI want your wardrobe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes... that was amazing drama...and reading about how they only started talking about (in a joking manner) cannibalism after the rescuers had made contact chilled me to the bone. Plus the 'Casanova Nurse'... what a legend! And the hero of it all. Movie coming out soon???
That dress was well worth the money!
