English Lady

There's something very English about pussybow blouses, it must be the Maggie Thatcher connection. When I wear mine I add hot pants or skinny jeans, killer heels and heaps of ethnic jewellery to avoid looking too prim and proper.

I had to run a few errands in town today so this is what I wore.

1960's hot pink blouse and embellished velvet tote (both jumble sale buys), Factory sample high-waisted skinny jeans (£2), thigh-high boots (car boot sale £3) plus lots of silver jewellery bought in India.

My inherited faux fur jacket got an outing today, it always attracts lots of attention, it's so luxurious.

It's English Lady, just like me!

  1. Love that jacket, really suits you.
And I agree about pussybow blouses, you have to add a bit of casual to avoid being overdressed.

  13. Dear Vix,
I love that bubblegum pink colour; it looks lovely on you.
Maggie Thatcher was doubtless a style icon for many a middle class English lady in the 70s/80s?!
I suppose the pussy bow was there to soften her otherwise non-empathetic demeanour, clever styling trick ;)
The faux-fur jacket is so very 'NOW' my dear, it’s a trend that has literally exploded on to the streets of London lately.
I know that I generally sidestep the “must-have trends” but I’m NOT giving my faux-fur up…no way!
    Lot’s of love,

  14. I'm a complete convert to pussybow blouses now. Can't imagine wearing them with a skirt though - like you say, jeans and heels seem to be the obvious modern pairing.

  35. What a great way to wear the pussy bow blouse, I don't think I'd have thought of pairing it with skinny jeans, but it looks fabulous. I love how you continue to give me the inspiration to try new combinations of clothes and to try new ways of wearing things, thanks so much. xxx

  37. Great outfit. Not surprised the jacket (or more likely you in the jacket) gets a lot of attention, it's lush. Like how you've styled it so as not to look to conservative. x

  38. Again, the mixing of different styles is genius, Vix!

There's so much you can do with a prim blouse depending on the look you want!

  45. The jacket is perfect, and the embellished velvet tote is right up my street. I am so fed up of 'dull' bags lately. Well to be honest, I just can’t seem to find anything a little different. It's looking like I may have to customize my own! x
