There's something very English about pussybow blouses, it must be the Maggie Thatcher connection. When I wear mine I add hot pants or skinny jeans, killer heels and heaps of ethnic jewellery to avoid looking too prim and proper.
I had to run a few errands in town today so this is what I wore.
1960's hot pink blouse and embellished velvet tote (both jumble sale buys), Factory sample high-waisted skinny jeans (£2), thigh-high boots (car boot sale £3) plus lots of silver jewellery bought in India.
It's English Lady, just like me!
Love that jacket, really suits you.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree about pussybow blouses, you have to add a bit of casual to avoid being overdressed.
xx
I love a pussybow blouse. I have a few Fifties ones and I always feel very ladylike when I wear them! I like the look you've got going on there, Vix. That jacket is gorgeous. xxx
ReplyDeleteI love a proper blouse with jeans, it's a great look. I adore your coat, the quality of it shows
ReplyDeleteYou certainly don't look prim and proper! (In a good way I mean that!) I love that coat!

Dear Vix,
ReplyDeleteI love that bubblegum pink colour; it looks lovely on you.
Maggie Thatcher was doubtless a style icon for many a middle class English lady in the 70s/80s?!
I suppose the pussy bow was there to soften her otherwise non-empathetic demeanour, clever styling trick ;)
The faux-fur jacket is so very 'NOW' my dear, it’s a trend that has literally exploded on to the streets of London lately.
I know that I generally sidestep the “must-have trends” but I’m NOT giving my faux-fur up…no way!
Lot’s of love,
Jem
…xXx
I'm a complete convert to pussybow blouses now. Can't imagine wearing them with a skirt though - like you say, jeans and heels seem to be the obvious modern pairing.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous m'lady!
ReplyDeleteThat is a perfect way to wear a pussy bow blouse!! You look funky and modern with a classic touch! Pussy bow blouses are the bomb! I've got 2,and am on the look out for a white or red one to wear with that Mrs Slocomey 2 piece you sent me!
ReplyDeleteLove Helga xxxXXXxxx
Looking good! Especially love the bag and boots x
ReplyDeleteDear Vix, yes thankfully you look nothing like Mrs Thatcher! I love the pink blouse with the jeans and the faux fur. And the accessories really make it xx
ReplyDeleteThat pink blouse looks fab with your dark hair! x
ReplyDeleteYou look fab, that jacket is beautiful I could melt into it. I had a black pussy bow blouse, but I felt all matronly in it so sent it to to the charity shop :(
ReplyDeleteKandi x
Ahh! An English Lady after my own heart and one that knows how to work a good, proper blouse. Love pussy bows as you know and love the bubblegum pink colour of this one. That stripy fur coat is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI've noticed a new source for your loot - factory samples - do they have factory samples outlets in the UK? Do tell where!
Love the color of the top as well as the outfit..Not suire about the handbag..
ReplyDeleteYou look great in that shade of pink, Vix. And the jacket is awesome. I'm sure you turned heads today as you went about your errands!

ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous handbag, and you really can't beat a faux fur jacket can you? I should just buy every faux fur jacket I see in every charity shop I visit because I do love them! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to wear the pussy bow blouse, I don't think I'd have thought of pairing it with skinny jeans, but it looks fabulous. I love how you continue to give me the inspiration to try new combinations of clothes and to try new ways of wearing things, thanks so much. xxx
ReplyDeleteTruly an English Lady love that brand..gimme gimme that coat..love how you mix styles.
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit. Not surprised the jacket (or more likely you in the jacket) gets a lot of attention, it's lush. Like how you've styled it so as not to look to conservative. x
ReplyDeleteAgain, the mixing of different styles is genius, Vix!
ReplyDeleteThere's so much you can do with a prim blouse depending on the look you want!
xxx
Im in love with your jacket!
ReplyDeleteThe bag is fab!
ReplyDeleteAnd although I don't really like pink, but it's nice that you mixed it with some dark colors to make it fierce :D

ReplyDeleteBTW - I'm off to a jumble sale this weekend, so I hope that I'll have the 'Luck of the Vix', whilst elbowing my way through the non-genteel local geriactrics!!

Very lovely outfit, Vix. The jacket looks so snug, I could have done with remembering to bring one of mine this morning, it's freezing!

Oh! Lady indeed! Love your hair in these pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteThe jacket is perfect, and the embellished velvet tote is right up my street. I am so fed up of 'dull' bags lately. Well to be honest, I just can’t seem to find anything a little different. It's looking like I may have to customize my own! x
ReplyDeleteI am slowly building up my collection of pussy bow blouses :) You look fab!
