Eagle-eyed followers may have spotted a print of "Tina" by JH Lynch on my bedroom wall. Like the fabulous Wayne Hemmingway I'm an avid collector of 1950's and 1960's framed prints and they are on display throughout our home.
Despite his work adorning thousands of homes throughout the Sixties, little is known of British artist Joseph Henry Lynch (October 28, 1911 – January 16, 1989). "Tina" was one of a series of prints available from Boots the Chemists and Woolworth's and a popular wedding present of the day. "Tina" can be spotted in the film, "A Clockwork Orange" and also featured on the cover of Edwin Collins' hit single "A Girl Like You".
My first "Tina" was found on eBay for less than £20 and the second was just £2 from a car boot sale. Lynch prints aren't as sought after as Tretchikoff so it's still possible to find a bargain if you search hard enough.
Some of the vintage prints on display in our lounge.
Today's make-up consists of Benefit Bad Gal eyeliner (free with this month's Company magazine), "Hot Chilli" lipstick by Boots 17, Benefit La La Lift and a Sisley Phyto blusher in Peach for which I paid 50p at a car boot sale (it retails at £69). I've never worn foundation and rarely bother with mascara preferring to home-dye my lashes blue-black every 6 weeks.

Modern peacock print strapless maxi dress (£9) from my shopping trip to Derby.
I adore those vintage prints. When I have a home with more wall space, they will definitely be on my wish list!
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, that sisley blusher! What a bargain!

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful maxi dress Vix - your skin is glowing too! xx
ReplyDeleteDear Vix,
ReplyDeleteYou've got an enviable print collection to say the least & as for your garden; it's a dream!
I got my 'Tina' from a charity shop in Fort William, can't remember exactly how much I paid for her but I know it was less than a fiver.
In 1999 hubby & I spent the summer busking in Barcelona, staying with a Spanish friend of ours & one night coming back from La Rambla we found a large framed print of 'Tina in a green dress' just left by some bins.
I did want to bring her back home to the UK with us after the summer but we were sort of transient with no permanent abode at the time, so I just left her with our friend :( GUTTED!
You look absolutely radiant today my dear!
…xXx
I can't believe you don't use foundation, your skin always looks so flawless! Question - does eyelash dying really replace mascara? I'd love to go without, I've never tried dying them.

ReplyDeleteI think I've seen these pictures before... Somehow your Tina interpretation has a bit more edge to it - and your back garden tree is a hero of a tree. I also love the big blue ring and the floaty maxi dress. xxx
