Super Shopper

Like my dear friend Helga , I just have to dress up for the supermarket dash. Why, oh why, do women insist on pushing their trollies down the aisles dressed in grubby jersey and ugg-ly boots? The supermarket is the one place you're almost guaranteed to bump into an ex, your old boss or even the school bully (who, incidentally, send me a friend request on Facebook this morning...no way, honey!) The only way that you can face these people is by feeling fabulous.

I won this vintage "Harriet of London" waistcoat on eBay at the weekend for the princely sum of £1.70 (with £2 postage). My hair is in dire need of a wash hence the beret.

The shorts are a pair of revamped gent's evening pants.

I found these English-made vintage handbags in my local hospice shop for £2.95 yesterday. The green one had a pair of matching gloves and a make-up mirror tucked inside. I spotted the shoes in Debenhams. Both pairs had been marked down in the Blue Cross Sale and with a gift card that had been knocking around in my purse for months the total purchase price came to £4!

This pretty 1970's era maxi dress was another eBay win over the weekend, it cost £2.24 (with postage) and it fits like a dream.

Big love to the beautiful Em for the mention yesterday. Her blog and utter passion for fashion make me smile. Cheers, darling!

  2. Oooh, I saw that waistcoat - glad you got it! You look fabulous and I completely agree about dressing nicely even for the supermarket. My only caveat would be that most people there don't deserve to have their day brightened by a well dressed person, because they DEFINITELY don't appreciate such things.

I agree with you about the supermarket thing, that is the one place you are guaranteed to bump in to someone you know!

  7. Love the outfit. And you are so right about the supermarket! You see EVERYONE there! Oh, such wonderful finds you find! I think it would either be so nice to go thrifting with you or so tragic (because we would end up in a fist fight, or some sort of altercation ;-).

  9. Another amazing haul of goodies Vix! Love the amazing shoes, what bargains. I always dress for the supermarket too, I must admit - and put on makeup! I am also on good terms with my own personal school bully after an unsolicited apology some years ago. ;-) It felt good!

  14. All Ugg boots should be banned along with Crocs - I don't care how comfy they are!

I really agree, I see more people when I nip out to the shop or do the school run and there is no reason not to look fab - which you always do!

  18. Gorgeous out fit, the waistcoat has a hint of Marc Jacobs + love that dress to bits. I need some tips from you, I find ebay a bit scary, but I guess if you don't pay too much then it doesn't matter if it goes wrong x

  20. Oh I totally agree, I think to myself, what is the point of having so many lovely clothes if all i am going to wear is the scruffy ones..so i'm probably always too dressed up. but i don't care! xx

  23. Maybe it's just me but when I'm dressed up in the supermarket I see nobody but when I've got up late and put shades on to cover my lack of make up I see everyone!

  24. Beautiful, as always. Adore the waistcoat - you inspired me to have a hunt around on eBay for a pretty waistcoat to add to my wardrobe!

I could never, ever wear anything sloppy outdoors. Those people who go shopping in PJs terrify me!
