Heidi Takes A Trip

My title's in honour of the divine Curtise who, to please the lollipop lady, comes up with some inspired names for her outfits.

This is the Heidi bit, a velvet dirndl bodice I bought from Maisie's Closet Vintage at Sunday's vintage fair.

This trippy psychedelic maxi was an eBay find at the weekend. I was slightly inebriated when I bid, clumsily inputting a max of £619. What a relief when I won it for £5.45.
Hoo-bloody-ray for having "weird" taste.

Dragon ring from Krista-licious, Lapis from my Dad, all the others from India.

I wore this outfit into town, a lady looked me up and down and complimented me on my bangle. Thanks, love!

Last night I finally got to see part one of the Stones documentary Crossfire Hurricane and Rock'n'Roll Circus (yet again). I've saved Sings The Rolling Stones for later, that should get me through the seemingly endless pile of mending.

1970s patchwork maxi (£5.45, eBay), 1980s black bodysuit (99p, Age UK), Dirndl top (£5, Maisie's Closet Vintage)
I match the curtains, how cool is that?
See you soon.

  1. Oh Heidi! How cute that you match the curtains! I know what you mean about having unusual taste. I often find things in the second hand store marked waaaaaaaay down and I think, "How come nobody has snatched up this gem?" And then I realize, "Oh yeah. I'm probably the only one who thinks this is a gem!"

  3. What a fabulous skirt! It's a good job that you didn't have stiff competition in the form of someone with a couple of hundred quid to spare!! :D

  4. Wowser, I love patchwork and I love that skirt. Perhaps I could make one.... Yay for matching the curtains. I salute you, dear Vix. xx

  5. Love your Heidi dirndl bodice - it looks brill with the patchwork skirt. Your inebriated bid of £619 made my snigger - just as well you didn't have to go THAT high for the skirt - fabulous though it is. And what a bonus to be matchy matchy with your curtains.

  6. Ha ha, £619! Glad no one was in a bidding war with you :) The dangers of drunk typing - I've been there too.

  12. Mwa ha ha! I adore this skirt! I actually bought a vintage one like this a while back and then I thought it looked horrid on me (and ACTUALLY too long for once!) so I gave it to my fashionista giant friend, wish I hadn't!!!

  13. Very cool but only if the curtains are as gorgeous as yours! The skirt is gorgeous.
You're having a influence on me as I bought a frantic brushed nylon 70's maxi dress the other day. I will create sparks when I walk in it...it might even be a nightie. I have no idea!

  14. You make a beautiful Heidi!
    I adore that top.

  21. This Heidi is decidedly trippy, sweet Swiss goat girl you are NOT! My lollipop lady would approve of the name though, (although this morning I could only manage Harassed Grumpy Mum...)
I love this little bodice, fits you like a glove, and with your patchwork skirt, it's a triumph! Drunken Ebaying, I'm glad it's not just me! Isn't it hilarious when someone rakes you with that head-to-toe look, only to mention one tiny element of your outfit. The blogging equivalent of "nice shoes" or "cute cat"!
You must watch "Sings the Rolling Stones" if only for Sheffield's Finest Marti Caine's rendition of Honky Tonk Women. Yes, really!
Love you like patchwork, darling! xxxxxx

  23. when I was young, I worked in a restaurant and we had to wear pinafores (yuck) Some of the ruder customers would call me "Heidi". Me + ruffles down my chest+ braids= give me a bigger tip!

  24. Your outfit is gorgeous, what a skirt! I have a habit of putting in clumsy bids on ebay, luckily i've never had to pay much for my won items yet! x

  28. I'm surprised you bought that skirt Vix when you could have run one up with ease on your Singer. (a la curtains) It does look fabulous on you and ditto the amazing bodice, I hope you were yodelling whist posing! Curtise is correct, 'Sings the Stones' did provide a few laughs and there was a very dodgy looking bloke singing 'Under my Thumb' to what looked like a Crackerjack audience.... errr inappropriate or what?

    ReplyDelete
  29. the bodice is pretty darn lovely and hurrah that the patchwork skirt didn't cost £619! Good to know I'm not the only sillybilly bidding under the influence x

  30. i was just going to say that you match the drapes! people say i match my house too. haha.

and yesterday an older lady told me i sure have an different angle on dressing. i'm not sure what that meant exactly but i decided to take it as a compliment.

you look fab in that heidi vest.
do you know how to yodel? hehe.

  31. I want to match curtains too. Jealous. Heidi is the perfect name for that piece. Couldn't think of a better one.

  32. Lovely! And nowt wrong with matching the curtains when they're as great as yours! love the earrings too. Watched Crossfire Hurricane yesterday, loved seeing the old footage of the lads, but made me realise how lacking my stones knowledge is!

  33. Score!!! What a magnificent skirt!!! SO pleased you didn't accidentally end up paying over 600quid for it....!!! And co-ordinating with the curtains/! Priceless!!! The dirndl is pretty damned hot and sexacious! It'll be fabularse in Summer too!
Some Heidi braids would really get the barometer pumping!!
    Schwing!!!

  46. LOVE your outfit that skirt is amazing ! I am making a patchwork skirt atm - of knitted patches but to finish seems like i need years ! I suck at knitting... Oh and haha one time i also put a clumsy max on ebay for a dress - i typed 1295 instead of 12,95... Glad it was mine for only 10 :) XX

You look gorgeous, dee xxx

  48. Glad you didn't end up making an ebay seller's day with an overpriced purchase. Patchwork and dirndl, who'd a thunk it. Oh, yeah, you would. Great combo and even better that you compliment the furnishings.
Let's coordinate meeting time and place for Sat. So looking forward to seeing you.

  49. that room looks so cosy and rather grannyish without being too twee, I know how you hate twee! I could have an afternoon nap on that bed right now. You love I love dirndl anything so the top is a winner, you look gorgeous in it. And it your drunken ebay adventures made me chuckle too, sort of thing that would happen to me. Keep being a rock star xxxx

  50. Oh you look so...Heide-esque in your ensemble, Vix. At first sight, I thought you made the skirt as it looked like your hand-made curtains. But e-baying it is more fun, especially when you throw in a few drinks! Your dirndl top kicks it up a notch or three. Both naughty and nice.

  63. I love that dirndl top. I have a dirndl dress. Found it on a fleamarket years ago. I have to lose a few pounds to fit in it again, but I just love that dress.
    Your maxi is gorgeous.

  64. Oh my gosh ... I can't stop laughing at the image of the lady looking you up and down and then complimenting a bracelet! Hilarious and a little detail I'm glad you thought to slip into the post.

  65. I love the print of Tina - I have the same one on my wall. I recently found some fridge magnets of her and another portrait by the same artist so I snapped them up. Normally I hate fridge magnets and it's hard to know when something crosses the line from being knowing and ironic to plain old tacky. But I couldn't help myself!
