Charlie's Angels Meets Woodstock

It's officially British summertime and warm enough to sport the 1970s chevron stripe play suit I bought from the "50p Lady" at last week's car boot sale.

It reminded me of something my childhood idol, Farrah Fawcett from Charlie's Angels would have worn along with her trademark main of flicked out hair and a pistol but, after a night on the tiles, it was easier to rock it up with bed hair and a vintage gillet.

Spring has sprung, the Magnolia has bloomed and the Forsythia is looking gorgeous.

1970s Kittiwake play suit worn with Astraka fake fur gillet (found by a friend at a car boot sale), River Island boots (£2, Salvation Army), Aztec belt (20p, jumble sale), Suede duffel bag (Courtesy of the fabulous Mrs That's Not My Age), 1970s sunglasses (20p, car boot sale), headband (made by me using 1960s braid found in a charity shop for 5p)

We couldn't resist the lure of a morning's charity shopping yesterday. I'll be cold turkey for a month a week from tomorrow.

St Michael tab collar emerald blouse/ Indian blouse with matching headband/ Custo, Barcelona retro sweater(I've lusted after this label for years, it's the first time I've ever found it second-hand)/ Purple velvet and cerise silk lined bolero

It was a well-timed visit, there were sales on in several chazzas so three of the four purchases were a £1 each. The velvet bolero was a little more but it does have a fancy label:

Not too shabby for £2.49

Off to catch up on all I've missed in Blogland and crack on with packing for Goa.

I'll try and upload our antics from last night if I can find any flattering pictures, at least one of us looks mental on every photo I've taken.

Hope you've had/are having fabulous weekends.

I was not 100% sure of the playsuit until saw it on! It looks fabulous. The bolera is divine too x

Awesome! Also love Custo Barcelona and keep an eye on ebay for it. Still have yet to snag any but I immediately loved yours!

I was wondering if that playsuit could be pulled off by anyone other than Farrah Fawcett -- but you look smokin' hot in it!

I'm lusting after all of your charity shop finds, which contain my fave elements - tab collar, puffy sleeves, Indian-inspired, print combos, and purple velvet. I picked up a Custo Barcelona long sleeved t-shirt recently. Although I hand washed it in cold water the colors of the sleeves bled all along the armholes.

Chat soon, I hope.

The playsuit looks fab teamed with the gilet and boots Vix. Great bargains, espesh YSL for £2.49, how's your luck? I went carbooting this morning on my way home from the night shift (hardcore eh?) but it was too early at 0630, the sellers weren't permitted to sell until 7am, and it was too cold to hang around.
Enjoy the sun. x

You work that playsuit as only you could. Farrah who? I envy people who love summer I wish I could get enthusiastic about it. Some mental pictures of your night out sound fine to me.

Btw, I don't thik you could ever live in India even if they would allow you to. You really would miss the chazzas too much! xx

Anita said...

I just knew that the chevron playsuit would be fabulous on you, and your styling is amazing! Farrah was my girlhood idol as well; I so wanted to grow up to be (and look!) just like her character on Charlie's Angels!

Your finds are lovely; the sweater with the hearts makes me very happy.

Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

Hi Vix!

Miserable day here, grey, rain, humid, it will a while before we see warm temperatures again! but at least we will not be snowed in!

Good stuff you got at the car boot - i love the shirt with the hearts and the green blouse

Hope you get my parcel before you leave

And THIS is why you're a genius, Vix.

Any other girl (especially me) who tried to pull off a Charlie's Angel Woodstock look would not only fail miserably, but look so ridiculous, the photos would go viral. But you look so glamtastically fabulous. You just have such natural STYLE.

DearHelenHartman said...

You're right, that is a total Farrah! Even though I'd never be able to wear them with your style, am always jealous of your finds. Vintage clothing goes for a premium around here and is rarely so much fun.

Flippin' hell you gorgeous bint, you trying to give me a heart attack or what? I remember those playsuits being really popular when I was living in Fiji in the late 70s and I always wanted to wear one with clear lucite stiletto mules. Just like all the cool grown up chicks I would gaze at, wishing my boobs would start sprouting. Haha!! Bed hair and the freaking fabulous gilet and boots AND duffle make your outfit absolute perfection. And kerrrr-ist at your haul from the chazza's, the green shirt with that fab collar and the Indian blouse are so amazing:)))) xoxoxoxoxoxo

OMG there are three people in the world that would look good in this little playsuit and YOU ARE THE BEST ONE! Honestly, you could not look any hotter - you have the most fabulous legs - and you have styled it to rock star perfection. That purple velvet bolero is the most beautiful colour and the Indian top and headband are gorgeous! Love! Sarah xxx

I have been giggling at both you and D at Pull your Socks up - just thinking about what the folks who trawl the internet, trend and style spotting - would do by way of trying to reinterpret your wonderfulness for the hipsters of the parish :)

Honestly - you've either got it or you aint and you, D and Helga have it in spades (to paraphrase the Black Country lady in your earlier post).

Delicious as always - I bet that YSL bolero could tell a few tales (I hope so anyway - waste of a lovely jacket if not - love, love the lining).

Chazza sales are the aceness - my local Oxfam was full of old tablecloths today and among them I found an old white piano shawl - divine.
