Oh Helga, Where Art Thou?!!!!

I woke up this morning to the awful news about the devasting earthquake in Christchurch and my first thoughts were for Helga and G. Back in September she'd messaged me to let me know they were safe but this time, we've heard nothing. I'm hoping my witchy instincts are correct and that all's well with my freaky twin and it's just the loss of power that's stopping her from getting in touch.

Since we met through blogging last year she's sent me the most fabulous gifts and knows my taste like nobody else.

Even though we've yet to meet she's kept me going through some of my darkest times.

Last April I was in India when I received news that my Mum was teminally ill and had very little time left, the Icelandic ash cloud meant we were unable to fly home and contact with the UK was both sporadic and poor. Helga's supportive and hilarious emails kept me sane. I can count her as one of my closest friends.

Rarely a week goes by without a chat on AOL Messenger where we discover something else we have in common.

As testament to how much I bang on about her I've been inundated by messages from non-blogging and blogging friends alike asking how she is and Misfit Sarah and I have even had a Skype chat earlier to reassure one another of her safety.

So my dear friend, for the sake of all your admirers out there get in touch and let us know you're well and in the meantime I'm going to have a drink and stay fabulous in your honour!

Love you, freaky twin!

***I've just logged into Facebook and one of their friends has received a text from Helga. They are both safe! ***

  9. The pictures on the BBC website are horrendous - looks like on top of all the other damage, a lot of the suburbs have been flooded by broken pipes. She may well be busy bailing out her house!

I'm hoping just about as hard as I can hope that she, G and the gang have come through it all unscathed.

  13. Hiya Vix...Couldn't believe the news this morning.......
I've been on fb and email, and I reckon there's no news because communications are disrupted. My gut feeling is that they're both fine and you'll be hearing from her soon. We'll all be positive and I know she'll be safe and sound.

  14. I hope your hear some good news soon.

Having seen the pictures on the news reports today I can't imagine how those people are feeling/coping :(

  15. My gut feeling is they're both fine too but the disruption to communication is awful, my friend has family in Christchurch and has had terrible trouble getting in touch.

I'm going to carry on as she would expect and have a drink 'with' her tonight!

  17. Let's just do our best to stay postive. She might have some other things to take care before she gets back to blogging. In the short time that I've followed her blog I get the fighter vibe from her. She's a sassy lady who's not going down without fight. It's amazing that you two met throught the internet. I think that you should go and visit her as soon as possible once you've heard from her. Keep your fingers crossed and your head up.

  18. I too have been checking emails/blogs for news, my first thoughts when Mr R&B told me the news were for Helga and G. I agree that it's probably just lack of communications that we've not heard from her. Keeping everything crossed that we hear good news soon x

  24. Dear Vix,
Helga & G have occupied my thoughts too today.
Mark (who is a huge big Helga & G fan) told me about the earthquake this morning before he left for work & I've been keeping a hawk-eye on my blog reader all day.
We've got some other friends in Christchurch as well, so it's a very anxious time.
I hope with all my heart that they are all safe & sound.

  27. I awoke at 4am and sit here typing this hoping, hoping, hoping that Helga and G are alive and well. I've never met her either and haven't had the same close contact with her as you Vix, but I feel Helga knows and understands the spirit of me and I've realised over the past 16 hours how greatly I value her friendship. She is a wonderful, generous, natural woman with a sense of humour that lifts everyone around her. I have family in CC and surrounding districts and they are safe, but I need to know if Helga is too. xoxoxoxoo

  58. Dear Vix,
    Thank goodness for that!
I shed a wee tear of joy, when I read your update.
We’ve been mentally preparing ourselves for a close relative’s big operation tomorrow too, so it’s been a really emotional day for both Mark & me.
I was getting really downhearted at one point, seeing the pictures & reading the online news bulletins from Christchurch, my heart really goes out to all the people there, may they find the inner strength to cope in this dark hour.
    Lot’s of love,
    Jem
