Blogging Changed My Life!

I had a pretty good life before but it's improved no end since I started blogging. I've been inspired, educated, amused and charmed by some wonderful women around the world and, even better, been showered with gifts. Apparently I even saved hilarious young Perdita's life last night.

Cards from some rocking ladies, Sarah Misfit, Mrs That's Not My Age and Margaret aka Penny Dreadful. The gorgeous daffodils were 31p from Asda yesterday. Sometimes a girl has to treat herself.
My postman called again this morning bearing a parcel from my darling Helga. Me and the postman are on good terms, I went out with him twenty years ago. He was a lovely bloke and a very stylishly dressed mod but at the end of the day he wanted marriage and kids, I wanted fun and frolics and I still haven't changed.

So what did the love of my life send me? This beautifully insane vintage maxi skirt for one thing. How cool is this green Vegas print?

A Kiwi fashion mag and some splendid rainbow braces.

A pretty card and a heart-shaped cocktail ring with a turquoise stone.

Some vintage tea towels and a cute oven mit.

Our Helga's a bit of a witch, she must know there's a dinner party chez Vix on Saturday night and these will come in very handy.

There's also a fab new vintage dress, but you'll have to wait to see it as it's my Saturday night frock.

Skirt (from darling Helga), 1980's jersey body (Age UK 99p), 1950's wool beret (Salvation Army 50p),
Vintage pendant (The gorgeous Amy @ Blighty Boutique), Bangles (All second-hand), Ebby, our 1970 VW Variant (eBay)

In little ways I think we all save each other. I don't get out much and don't make friends face to face easily. But I know I can find some lovely people on the blog and still not feel lonely. For me, that saves. And I like the skirt. I'm not so vintage as you by a long way but I love to look at your clothes.

Well I have to say that there were only two blogs I ever read before I started blogging. I'd been thinking about blogging for ages but wasn't brave enough as I was convinced no-one would read it! So instead I just enjoyed reading these two blogs. I finally decided to stop talking and just start a blog. You were my first follower Vix. I took that as a sign....because Vintage Vixen was one of the two blogs I had been reading! So thank you. x

I totally agree with you there Vix; its great to have blog-friends and to share finds, thoughts, views, anything really. It really makes you appreciate the wonderful people out there.

You're wearing another great outfit and that skirt is totally ravishing; its those green shades that do it for me. Loving all the vintage tea towels and that birdie oven glove is super cute.

P.S. Looking forward to seeing that Saturday night frock too.

Haha I love that you went out with your postman back in the day! That's just epic. :) The postman for my parents' neighborhood tried setting me up with his son six years ago. I didn't care for his son, but his son has been obsessed with me ever since. So, it gets awkward when I'm at my parents and I run into Billy (the postman) because he always gives me a sad smile and says "David says hello". Eep!

I love your outfit. You always look so cool and it is so inspiring. I hope this doesn't sound creepy, but I was out shopping over the weekend and came across a gorgeous Indian-inspired maxi skirt. I thought "Vix would rock the hell out of this skirt" and smiled. Hehe! I would have bought it myself but they didn't have my size. :( But you DO inspire me! XOXO

Dear Vix,
love that outfit & Helga's quite right, you've glammed the skirt up fabulously.
You can't go wrong with a kitchy print in my opinion.
The tea towels & the oven glove are smashing too.
Lot's of love,
Jem

Is wonderful to be part of the blogging community. Your were the first blog I started to read every day all the way back in November of 2010 (So Long Ago!).
From your blog roll I discovered Misfits, Rags, MyStyle and many more. Blogging has enriched my life as well because I value friendships and personal connections with people more than anything else.
I also enjoy reading about other women or men points of view, humor and lifestyles.
And Vix you have an unique style and I also enjoy reading how little you paid from some of the clothes you get.

VintageVicki said...

I enjoy my daily dose of Vix colour :)

Keep meaning to say - there's a wonderful lady in our town - she has her own unique style too - just think you'd both get on so well.

;) I just love your lifesaving blog.

And that skirt!! How amazingly fab is that! WOW.

Our postman is a grumpy man who looks a bit like Catweazel, so no postie-romance to be had there! I also had to give him the Paddington Bear Hard Stare when he threw my ebay purchases down on the wet front step without the decency to put them under the sheltered bit. Grrr.

What an incredible story about the postman! Just a few sentences, but it made me smile))
I love this skirt and the way it looks with cute beret and great jewelry. Can't wait to see the dress with chickens)

What a lovely post. I totally agree, I am only new(ish) to blogging and only got involved after much encouragement from my Dad who was convined I should do one, amid my own fears noone would be interested in my ramblings. I am enjoying blogging and enjoy talking to lovely girls with similar interests and amazing lives.
And I can't wait to see your saturday night dress! xxx
